Litterbox training on kittens...aahhhh!

out of my 5 beautiful babys only 1 will potty, and only when I put her in the box.

The other 4 just lick the litter and spit it out and walk out.

Plus only 3 of the 5 are eating. I've tried soft kitten food and water softened hard food the other two just don't have anything to do with it, but one will drink water.

My first time dealing with kittens, maybe im just stressing too much over these beautiful babies.

Any advice??

How old are the kittens? Are they still with their mother? Do you have other adult cats in the house?

I started putting food in a dish close to their basket when mine were about 4 weeks old, but they didn't even act interested until they were almost 5 weeks. Their mother ate the food instead.
Even after they started eating solid food they were still nursing regularly until they were about 8 weeks old. In fact, they're 16 weeks old now and mom still lets them nurse once in a while, although I doubt very much that they're getting anything.

For litterbox training I placed a small pan right next to each of the big litter boxes. I did dump the kittens in once in a while, but it took them a week or so before they figured out the litter was not for eating. I was so excited the first time I saw Cali watching her mom in the big litter box. She hopped right into her little pan and started digging. Of course, she dug four holes before she got around to squatting and doing her business.

I basically let the kittens learn by example, watching the three adults. I think it took about two weeks before they were all using the litter boxes regularly and mom stopped cleaning them up.
