With the holidays fast approaching here is a question pertaining to goodies.

Do you like Christmas Cake?

I am not of fan of Christmas Cake, although if it has more nuts then dried fruit I can eat it. If it has too much dried fruit in it well

I used to like it okay, when I ate refined sugar. Did they change the name from fruitcake because of the bad reputation that name has?

Fruitcake? Ick.

I'm not that keen on Christmas cake, must be the amount of fruit in it or something..but I'm also not keen on Christmas pudding either because of the brandy being put in it.

I do not like fruitcake accept for the one my Aunt would order from texas.
I can not remmeber where she got it but it was very good.

If what you call Christmas cake is what we call fruit cake... then no. Except... there was this one WONDERFUL little bakery in the next town over.. he candied his own fruits... and would make fruitcake and stollen. OMG was that good!!!! But he got sick and had to close his shop.

I only like Christmas cake or Christmas pudding drowned in custard!!
No, GAG!! My grandmother used to make that every year and I think I tried it once. YUCK.
My dad loves fruitcake-the cheap stuff you can buy at a drugstore or the pricey stuff-it doesn't matter.

The place I work at makes a fruitbread (not as sweet), stollen and panetonne 9might not have that spelt correctly). I'm getting him some of each for Christmas!!

Me-I'll pass on the stuff!!

Yes i love it, but it has to be with a good strong cup of tea

Are you talking about fruitcake? If so the answer is: Yuck! That stuff is terrible!
Well, apparently I'm in the minority, but I like fruitcake.
I also like fruit cake..
Wow, I'm stunned that there are in fact people in the world who do like fruitcake!
Me, no. I do like the traditional sticky pudding and custard though. Oooh and panetone! Yay! They always have lots of variety in store this time of year.

My grandmother used to make a wonderful Hungarian fruitcake recipe that used walnuts, dates, raisins and orange peel. It's my favorite holiday food!

I'm not too wild about the traditional fruitcake with cherries and citron, etc. in it.

Well, there's fruitcake and fruitcake, as my Dad would have said. The tasteless sawdusty stuff most often available commercially I'll pass on, thank you. But a moist, rich, full of fruit, home made dark fruitcake is to die for. My aunt made the best fruitcake in the world. (Sorry, Dad, yours was pretty wonderful, but on this Aunt Lil had everyone beat hands down.)

Fran if i'd known that i would have sent you one in your ss parcel. A coffee shop in the village bake them and their sooooo moist!!
As Fran says, there's fruitcake, and then theres fruitcake, lol! Most of the stuff that we all see way too much of has too much citron and the like in it. Several years ago, one of our local stores carried one that was a two lb cake and it cost@$40 .......was full of good fruit, nuts and had been soaked in some form of brandy.......wish I had one!

Fruitcake.....ewww!
Those candied fruits just gag me!
My brother just loves it. Hey! I'll get him one at the bakery for Christmas. Thanks for the idea!
Yuck

No thanks!
yuck. Just the smell of it makes me gag.

My twin however LOVES it. He eats it in front of me with a look of pure bliss on his face. I think he is just trying to make me sick. hmmm that is a good idea...prehaps i too will add a fruitcake into his christmas gift....

My mom likes it as well.

Its fun to watch my twin and mom fight over the last peice of fruitcake while the rest of us look on in pure horror.

While I hate fruitcake...I do really like Eggnog...in fact I make my own every year! I can't stand the store made stuff...I have to make it myself.
I had a single serve christmas pudding, cream and strawberries for breakfast!
I don`t mind the cake too much but I can`t stand the marzipan and icing especially as my dad always got the bakers to put extra icing on our cake and I always seemed to end up with a corner peice
post #27 of 27
I can eat it, but i'm not mad about it, leave it for everyone else.
