The person claims to be a college junior, and apparently can not get loans, care credit, or anything. The surgery is to remove a pin that was put in the dogs leg after it got hit by a car, now the pin is overdue for removal and infected.

Personally I would not have let it get to the point of infection, I would be selling my college books, even if I was still using them. It is your pet and your responsibility, they depend on you. This could have been prevented, she KNEW that the pin needed to be removed eventually-she should have planned ahead. She should try her best to work out a payment plan with a vet, or give the dog up to a shelter.
