I was wondering if any of you have hummingbird feeders? if you do, do you make your own necter? How do you make it? Is it just sugar and water? red food coloring too?? TIA
My mom makes her own nectar out of sugar and water- not sure of the actual measurements though.
I have heard that you should buy a feeder with red on it instead of putting dye in the actual nectar. Its not good for the birds to ingest the food coloring, and the red color's only purpose anyways is to attract them to the feeder.
They sound like tiny helicopters if you happen to be outside and near the feeder when they come. I'm going to get a nice feeder soon and hang it outside the window so the kitties can watch the birds. Is that helping or cruel ?
yea, I got some fixed up and hanging out there....I have already seen a couple get some out of the feeder...the kids get a kick out of watching them..I just can't get over how tiny they are..
