Arghh....people never cease to amaze me!!

GLENPOOL -- A 63-year-old Glenpool woman has been arrested for animal cruelty for drowning a cat.

Police say Charlotte Ann Clark was arrested Wednesday after a neighbor told officers she witnessed the incident.

Clark told police she had tried to get animal control officers to remove stray cats that were killing birds in her back yard but wasn't able to contact them.

She said she then used a trap to catch one cat and put it in a water-filled trash can because that was the "most humane way" she could think of to kill the animal.

Clark is in the Tulsa Jail on $4,000 bond according to the jail's Web site

And they say to show your elders some respect?!. That's one old dear that has to earn some in my book!

Throw the book at her just like they would at others who commit cruelty to animals!

Go ahead and laugh, I am, but then maybe as an old bat myself I can! I do agree she needs to see how "humane" it is. But then maybe drowning is too good for her, I hope they don't cut her any slack for her age or anything else. She wasn't cutting any slack for that poor cat.

Thank you for the link!! I went to the article, joined & posted a comment. I hope others here do the same, so the media gets the message that cats and also animal abuse issues are indeed newsworthy

There are times I wish language wasn't censored on this forum.

Cause I have a few choice words.

This woman should see what it's like to drown. I hope they punish her to the full extent of the law.

Here's what I really don't get about these "bird lovers" they somehow justify the birds life more meaningful than the cats. Does that make any sense?

I have birds, and squirrels in my backyard and guess what? My maincoon is outdoor try to catch the little suckers all day long. Well lets be honest. He hides in a bush and just waits. He to this day has never caught one.

Cat's usually can only catch birds that are sick or injured..the weakest of the pack. So the cat actually is doing the bird a favor. Just not a very nice one. lol

While I don't agree with what the lady did, I do understand why she did it. Back in the day, that was considered the "humane" way to get rid of critters. I have heard more than a few old-timers recall drowning a litter of kittens or puppies because they couldn't keep them. It really was considered a mainstream option before people knew better.
