hes been drinking lots of water lately

hi,
my cat mickey is a year and a half old and recently (past couple days) hes been drinking alot of water. he will drink about a glass of water a day is this normal? my other cat charli doens't seem to drink as much as he is. my bf suggested drinking alot of water is a sign he might be diabetic..could this be true?

Yes excessive thirst is an early warning sign of diabetes. If you are feeding your cat human tuna, that can also lead to excessive thirst and other nastier problems because of the sodium and chloride in tuna.

do you think i should take him to the vet to get it checked out?
i don't feed him any human tuna..

Any time there's a noticable change in behavior like that, it's a good idea for a vet visit. I would have them do a chemistry panel to check all of his body functions. Then, if everything is normal, He could just be interested in water.

oh one more thing, is the chemistry panel check expensive to do?

It really depends on the vet and the lab. I know that the lab here in the states charge about $38.00 for that particular test.
