The organization that I work for is planning a meeting of our Board of Governors in Los Cabos in February. It's part of my job to handle the logistics for all of their meetings.
I got a very dramatic-sounding e-mail this morning from one of our members alerting me to "severe travel risks" in Los Cabos. He says that there are severe violence and drug problems in Los Cabos and that we need to change our meeting location immediately or everyone will be in dire peril. The thing is, this particular doctor has been know to be very alarmist in the past.
I've been working with our meeting and travel staff here to try to find any information to substantiate his claims, but we haven't turned up anything. I've found alerts about problems in the northern border towns, but nothing as far south as Cabo. Of course, the doctor claims that his sources are unofficial and not part of the government conspiracy to cover up the problem.
So I'm wondering if anyone's been to the southern Baja area lately who can confirm or deny this rumor.
