Just had a couple questions about some behavior I've noticed with both my cats. First up is about Zoey...

She REFUSES to eat food out of her dish. Absolutely refuses. She will intentionally put it on the floor, and then eat it, or she will bat it around for 5 minutes, and go get a different piece.

If she isn't batting her food around, she will pick a piece of food up in her mouth, and drop it in the water dish. We thought it was her way of telling us she wanted fresh water, so we bought one of those cat water fountains, and now she just clogs it up all the time.

We have a blanket that looks exactly like her (you can see pictures if you want in my newbie thread) and she will constantly suck and knead on it. After she's done she just falls asleep. We say she is making love, LOL. Does she think it's her mother?

Now Niko...

We got him from a local pet store when he was 9 weeks old. He's extremely sociable, and was in a cage with about 8 other cats. The reason I am saying this is because he is EXTREMELY jumpy. He could be fully aware of your presence, but as soon as you touch him, his whole body jerks like someone just scared the living hell out of him. It usually happens when I touch him rather fast, but he still does it if I approach him slow.

Anyone have any thoughts?

She REFUSES to eat food out of her dish.
Not all that unusual.
Have you tried putting the food on a very flat paper plate or something like a Corning salad plate? (Flat, and large enough so it doesn't look anything like a cat dish.)

(I had to stop using bowls for my cats years ago. They prefer large, flat plates.)

Niko is mostly black with a white underbelly/chin/paws. Tuxedo I guess would be the way to describe him.
