We got Royal Canin 36 for my kitten that will be coming next week if the weather holds.
We picked up a bag of food of Royal Canin kitten 34 not the baby cat one and it was very hard and expired.
We told the guy and he put it back on the shelf.
I looked on the Royal Canin website and they only make 34 in baby cat now.
How can they sell old food like that at the pet store?

I had the same problem at a local pet store. I always look at dates. There were some packs of wet food that had dates as old as 7/08 just a few weeks ago. I told a clerk and they were still there when I went back a week later. Things like that irk me as I know not everyone is good as I am at reading dates. I am a fanatic lol

All stores do it and I have no idea why. It should be a law that if they are caught selling out-dated food and they know that they are, like if someone tells them about it and they leave them there- they should get a fine or something. ITS NASTY... thats how people and pets get sick. Its annoying.

I too always fanatically check expiry dates.

If I were you, I wouldn't let this go. I'd contact the store and ask to speak to the manager (don't say "why" or they'll maybe not pass the message along). I might even go up another level, to the big wigs at the store's corporate office if there is one. If I got a sense that they didn't think this was a big deal, I'd be phoning someone at Royal Canin and advising them that one of the stores that sells their products is selling known expired food and doesn't seem to care.

Heck, if it was me, after I spoke with the manager, I'd go back to the store and check - to see if they removed that old food from the shelf.

I am going to do that.
This is a pet store I am sure alot of you shop at.
They have the old kitten food in the kitten area and the new food with the cat food.
