I have never heard that before, I have heard the opposite though that they are so sweet. Let us know how it goes with the adoption

My little Kiwi is a siamese mix, and she definately has a fiery side. I don't however think this has anything to do with her being half siamese. We all have our distinct personalities regardless of our race, I would assume the same is true for our pets.

Nabu is (and Raven
was) a Siamese mix. Very sweet cats. Needy, yes, but I like very social cats.
I worked in a shelter for a couple years, and I never met a "mean" Siamese. The closest to "mean" cats I ever met were ferals, and they were just terrified not "mean".

She is the Sweetest girl, she jumped in my lap, my husband's and then my kids when we went and looked at her so we knew right away she is coming home. whoever told me that Siamese aren't friendly, well it's the craziest, she is just a mix but doesn't have any meaness in her, my boy Coffy hissed at her and lightly swapped her and she just sat there, she didn't even hiss back, she is a darling and I am so blessed that I went to get her, we drove 2 hours there and 2 hours and the roads were so bad but we got there safely, this was all just so meant to be.I Knew when I read her page and saw her, she was meant to be ours. We lost our Tazzy 1 week ago today and Sophie will not replace her but we took our sadness and did something that would help another.

---That stupid myth got its start from the movie "Lady and the Tramp"--remember the "evil" Siamese "Si" and "Am"? They sang the song, "We are Siamese, if you please/We are Siamese, if you DON"T please." I have worked as a psychiatric social worker with abused/neglected children for 5 years, and I can't tell you how many of them have looked at my darling Clementine's photo and said (without having EVER known a Siamese!!) that "those cats are mean!" What a bunch of crap (please excuse my unladylikeness, but I feel strongly about this!) Siamese, just like any other type of cat--and people--have their bad days, too, but shouldn't be labeled "mean" and "evil"!!

I hear you! I have an ignorant neighbour that told her children Siamese cats destroy your home. (The kids were petting our two wonderful meezers when they imparted this wisdom to me.
) I told them they should tell their mom that there is no truth to that at all.

I do have to admit however, that my neighbour has a Siamese cat and she hates everybody. Sophie is nasty! She even swipes at me when I cat-sit for them and put her food down.
Now her other cat, Lenny the Burmese makes up for Sophie's lack of manners. Lenny snuggles right down into my neck when I pick him up.

Your new girl is gorgeous! I see her piccie at the tops of your post! She looks like a tortie point or a lynx point long haired cat. And she has the sweetest look on her face.

I won't belabor the "mean" Siamese as myth thing here. Just add my two cents. When I was a girl, my BFF had a seal point meezer boy named Charlie. He was such a good natured chap - I mean he put up with all kinds of indignites heaped on him by four little girls!
Things like: being dressed in doll clothes and wheeled around in a doll buggy! If I ever get a male colorpoint or meezer, I will name him Charlie in honor of that dear boy!

I just showed my new kitten to my cats.
Coco my half siamese came and licked her.
Then she grabbed Coco around the neck and tried to play with her.
Coco is 16.9 and she has always been nice to the new cat the same day they met.

Of the Siamese I have known, they tend to be very clever and very curious, and they sometimes get into trouble when they aren't given enough stimulation--they will then seek it on their own, and probably end up getting into something you don't want them to get into.

The ones I have known generally tolerate most people, but will love one or two.

They also tend to be aggressive with other animals, either dogs or cats; not mean--they just have to assert that they are in charge. (Again, this is my experience.)

I remember Binx, a former roommate's Siamese. For the longest time he wouldn't have anything to do with me; then, after Randy got a girlfriend and started spending very little time around, the cat warmed up to me. There were several other cats in the apartment complex, but Buddy definitely was in charge; all the other cats deferred to him. The only other was another Siamese named Sidera. Binx was neutered, and Sidera was spayed, but I think they each had enough sexuality left to be interested in one another, but not enough to remember why; they fought all the time. Unless a strange cat came into their territory. Then they'd double team him.

I once saw Binx coming up the walk with a rat in his jaws. Not a mouse. A rat. Nearly as big as he was.

Several times I saw Binx chasing strange dogs--even big dogs--off the property.

When Randy and his girlfriend got married, they took another apartment in the same building; which confused Binx. He had trouble remembering where he lived; several times I'd open the door of the apartment, and in would come Binx. I'd pick him up and carry him over to Randy and Diana's place and say, "I think this belongs to you."

I say all this about Binx because he's fairly typical of the Siamese I've known. Territorial; yes. Choosy about their friends, yes. Dominant, yes. Mean? Not really; you just need to know how to deal with them. But with humans they have decided to trust, they can be very affectionate and playful. (Although they sometimes can play rough.)

Zane's Pal,
I doubt the cats you have observed were purebred, otherwise why would the owners just let them roam around outside various apartment complex, just doesn't make sense?

I don't know about Sidera, but I do know that Binx was purebred; there was something wrong with him--I'm not sure what, but nothing that affected his basic health--that made him unsuitable for breeding, so he was neutered and offered as a pet. At least that's what Randy (his owner) told me, and he had no reason to lie about such a thing.
