Well, they say God works in mysterious ways and I firmly believe that

Saturday morning I woke up with HORRIBLE cramps. I didn't get out of bed for about an hour after I woke up. My back was hurting and I felt sick to my stomach.
Brandon was nice enough to bring me coffee in bed and rub my back.
Well, I went to the bathroom and figured Aunt Flo was the reason... Until I checked my calender

My monthly wasn't due for another 2 weeks but I figured that because I only had it for a day and a ½, last month (due to stress... or so I thought) that it would be a bad one.

All day I felt horrible. Bad enough that I called my Dr. He suggested it was my ovarian cysts and that I could go to the ER but w/o them having my medical history, they couldn't do much and would probably tell me to go see him on Monday.
So I suffered through the weekend with the cramps and the bleeding and on Monday, I made an appointment.

I went in yesterday to find out something I didn't expect......I had a miscarriage

We didn't even know or think I was pregnant! I was told by the Dr. a few years back that I wasn't able to have anymore so this came as a complete shock to both Brandon and I.

I was apparently 6½ weeks. They ran tests, took blood, did an ultrasound and they are trying to find out if it was due to the cysts or from stress

I will get the results on Friday. If it was from the cysts then I'm possibly looking at having a partial hysterectomy.

I go in Monday for another ultrasound to find out if I will need to have a D&C done.

I really hope I don't have to because it's really rough on a woman's body to have that done

Suprisingly, Brandon was more upset about it then I was. He doesn't have any biological children and even though we've talked about how we don't want anymore, I think secretly he was heartbroken.

But we both did agree that right now is not the time to have a baby. Not with the economy the way it is and with me being out of a job, plus, we're are going to have to move right after Christmas due to the house we're renting being under foreclosure.

So can I have some vibes that I don't have to have the procedure done?

I knew as soon as you posted your symptoms. That's exactly how my miscarriage went. A D&C isn't as hard as a hysterectomy. I had to have a D&C when I miscarried and I was down for about a day and a half. Regardless, I'll be keeping you in my thoughts! that it's nothing serious.

I'm so sorry about the miscarriage; it must have come as a shock to learn you'd been pregnant.
A D&C isn't so bad, really. I had one when I was undergoing infertility tests and like twstychik said, I was down for a day with some pain but nothing major.
Sending you loads of good vibes that everything goes ok

Sorry about the miscarriage

So far as D&C's go, I've had two. They are day procedures and I was back to work the next day. Any pain I had was just mild cramping similar to period cramps.

Cysts on ovaries doesn't mean having to have a hysterectomy. I work in the "Women and Child" area and deal with women having all sorts of gyne issues and surgeries. Cysts can be removed from ovaries without removing the ovary itself. A hysterectomy involves removing the uterus. If ovarian cysts are the issue and they have to remove anything, it will be the offending ovary, leaving the other ovary and your uterus. Removal of an ovary is called an "oophorectomy."

Just for some additional information. A Hysterectomy is no longer considered "major" surgery. While it's not a day procedure, depending on the style of surgery you have for the procedure, you are in either 1 or 2 days. Lots of them are done vaginally now which means no abdominal incisions and those are the women that are usually discharged the day after.

Maybe I misunderstood them...
Thank you for the information

Oh no, I hope all turns out well. I'm sorry you had a miscarriage. Perhaps it was better that you didn't know about the pregnancy. Poor Brandon, hope his heart heals soon

And vibes for you too, I don't know what a D&C is... or any of the other medical stuff mentioned. But I hope everything goes well physically

I can tell you that stress doesn't cause a miscarriage. If that was the case, I'd never would've had my son!

Tons of healing vibes to you and Brandon.

Nuh uh...might give me away!
I'm so sorry to hear about the miscarriage, even if it wasn't in your plans to become pregnant.

And I can understand Brandon's feelings...earlier this year I thought I *might* be pregnant, because I was late a few days (and I'm NEVER late). My DH was more freaked out/scared but when I started my period, I wanted to just sit and cry.

Being pregnant isn't in our plans right now, but I was kind of hoping. I know it's not the same, but sometimes you don't realize what you wanted until it's gone.

Good news, Bad News....

The Dr called and said I do not have to have a D&C

It was the cysts that caused the lose

But I do have to go back on Monday for another ultrasound. He wants to look at the size of the cysts. If they are really large, I'm looking at having just my right ovary removed.
