I guess I'm a sucker for TV nostalgia, because my favorites are the Vince Guaraldi soundtrack from Charlie Brown, and 'You're a Mean One, Mister Grinch." I also love '2000 Miles' by the Pretenders.

Funny, I was just thinking about this in the car today -- because so much classical and choral music was written for Christmas that it's hard for popular music to compete with, like, The Hallelujah Chorus...
...however...

When I was singing in choirs (oh, how I miss that!), I fell in love with a little-known choral piece called "Carol From An Irish Cabin" -- anyone know that song? And there was one that I think was just called "The Bells," a choral setting of a poem by Poe, very fast and challenging, and it had the wonderful word "tintinnabulation" in it!
Also a very cool little choral tune called "Jazz Gloria" that was SO MUCH FUN to sing!

My favorite traditional Christmas Carol is "Silent Night," hands down... and as others have said, it's especially lovely in the original German (strangely enough, since German is not normally thought of as a euphonious language). I also love "Good King Wenceslas" and "We Three Kings" and the cascading glorias in "Angels We Have Heard On High." And "Carol of the Bells" is just a complete blast to sing!

"Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" is a very beautiful song, and I always love to see that clip of Judy Garland singing it so sweetly.

And I just love it when Springsteen rocks out "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town," with Clarence doing the Big Santa Voice on "Ya betta be good, for goodness' sake!"

But if I had to choose just one song for Christmas -- no doubt about it, it's Irving Berlin's "White Christmas." A simple, lovely melody... an understated lyric that expresses the wonder of snow and all the warm emotions of the season... it's a perfect song!

I can't pick just one! I love to sing O Holy Night and the Ukrainian Bell Carol. My favorite Christmas CD is Christmas Belles by Raison D'etre--a woman's trio. (http://www.raison3.com) I also highly reccomend the Navidad Nuestra by Ariel Ramirez. One of my choirs is carolling Thursday. I belonged to a mounted Girl Scout troop in jr high and high school and we used to carol on horseback. I miss that!

I also love City On a Hill, and It's Christmas Time is one of my Christmas faves of theirs.

Oh, that sounds wonderful!
I'll bet the horses loved it, too... animals are so sensitive to music.

Well, I checked the link for the 12 best songs and I haven't even heard of most of them! I thought their #2 song---John Lennon's 'Happy Christmas'---should have been #1.
My personal favorites (besides Happy Christmas):

Gabriel's Message (love the way Sting sings this)
I'll Be Home for Christmas
Have Yourself a Merry LIttle Christmas
O Holy Night
Snow ( by Loreena McKennitt; I love her music)
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reinideer (by Gene Autry, of course)
