I cannot stand "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer". That song has never been funny to me.

I hate that song. Every year Some teacher thinks its funny, and puts it in the Christmas show.

I HATE HATE HATE that "simply having a wonderful christmas time" song. I really want to punch something when it comes on the never ending christmas loop at Dicks Sporting Goods (where I work)

Yay.

Especially with that one "baby it's cold outside" where the one version really sounds like date rape.

There's a song, which I can't remember the title, but the group (you hear mostly women's voices) sound as if they just ran a marathon (or finished Christmas shopping at our local mall), and are being forced to sing a carol. They certainly don't put any holiday spirit into their singing!

I was in a store 2 weeks ago, Xmas shopping; I had my 1st taste of Xmas music. After about 2 hours, I was ready to dress in camouflage fatigues, grab a machine gun, and go postal in The Christmas Tree Shops. I especially hate "Feliz Navidad" (since I own pets, I call it, "Fleas Navidad"). I love the Spanish language, but this song drives me loco!

I once made up Punk Rock Xmas carols: "Violent Night"; "I saw Mommy Slam-Dancing with Santa Claus"; "Up Yours to the World"; "I Fought 3 Skinheads on Christmas Day in the Morning"; "Rudolph, the Red-Eyed Junkie"; and "Anarchy in the North Pole". (Actually, I made a parody of a Sex Pistols album, inlcuding the record cover.) Needless to say, with this attitude, I obviously don't think much of most Xmas carols!

On the serious side, "Silent Night" makes me bawl like a baby for some reason--not the words, just the tune. I especially like it in German : "Stille Nacht". I love the story behind it, too, especially the tale about how, on Xmas Eve, during a cease-fire, the American and German troops sang it across the fields to each other that night.

"I like several of the songs on the "worst xmas songs" list including The Ramones 'Merry Christmas I Don't Wanna Fight Tonight' "--obviously, my family never heard of THAT song. Shame they haven't!

Santa, Baby!

I worked in retail for 12 years and every year from Thanksgiving through Christmas, I had to hear that infernal song over, and over, and over again

Do you like Weird Al's Christmas songs? He has "The Night Santa Went Crazy" and also "Christmas at Ground Zero" both are rather catchy.

No, I didn't know he had them! (Why does that surprise me, though??). I do love Weird al's stuff, especially his rock video of "Amish Paradise" (a parody oc Coolio's "Gangsta Paradise"). Check out the Amish farmer, cutting grain with a scythe, and wearing a wristwatch--which is a sundial on a watchband!

The list:

12. Madonna, "Santa Baby". Eartha Kitt did it much better.

Santa Baby

11. Paul McCartney, "Wonderful Christmas"

Wonderful Christmas

10. Smashing Pumpkins, "Christmastime."

Christmastime

9. Destiny's Child, "8 Days of Christmas." For what it's worth, The Twelve Days of Christmas is pretty annoying in its native, unadorned form.

8 Days of Christmas

8. Bruce Springsteen, "Santa Clause Is Coming to Town."

Santa Clause Is Coming

7. Cyndi Lauper, "Christmas Conga."

Christmas Conga

6. Beach Boys, "Santa's Beard."

Santa's Beard

5. Clay Aiken, "Merry Christmas With Love."

Merry Christmas with Love

4. The Ramones, "Merry Christmas (I Don't Want to Fight Tonight)"

Merry Christmas

3. No Doubt, "Oi to the World"

Oi to the World

2. John Denver, "Please Daddy, Don't Get Drunk This Christmas"

Please, Daddy

1. Band Aid, "Do They Know It's Christmas"

Do They Know It's Christmas

I noticed that some of these were so bad, even the original artists failed to make videos of them.

And how was this left off the list?

Guess what?

Speaking of Achmed:

Jingle Bombs

I like the Beach Boy one and think this one should be on the favorite list:
Little Saint Nick.
I admit to owning the CD with both those songs and love belting out the "Run, run reindeer" refrain as I'm driving along. Yeah, it's scary.

Well, if you don't like the 12 Days of Christmas, then you probably won't like the 8 Days of Chanukah (you can spell it many different ways)

http://www.jokeindex.com/joke.asp?Joke=947

I like the substitutions for Israel. I had to look up "ful" which is a paste made of fava beans with garlic and lemon.

Trust me, it is a lot better than The Dreidel Song.

For the different spellings of Chanukah:

Well, if you put 2 rabbis together you get 3 opinions - I can say that because I am Jewish.
