Gosh, I was so mad I was shaking and couldn`t talk properly!

I live in the flat below where I work which is 2 houses with 24 rooms for people with support needs. Now recently a member of staff left, she used to come in at the weekend and put out bread, milk, microwave meals, get the post etc and was paid £30 for the 2 days.

Since she left I have taken over her job as domestic assistant. Now on the weekend I have to go up and do the meals , post etc. Also Sooty the cat needs drops in his eye twice a day, so I`m up there doing that and the woman who looks after him is hard work.

Now I get paid £10 for the 2 days
Don`t ask why, things got a little heated when I argued that one. Anyway, 4 O`clock saturday morning someone was hammering on my door. Someone had busted open the side gate the night before so as my door is down a dark alleyway I was pooping myself. I didn`t answer it and they went away.

Now it`s evening here and someone was hammering again
Then I get a txt from the woman next door and my boss saying someone has locked themself out of their room, not the actual house and could I let them in.
Yep, fine, but they will have to wait because I need to get dressed and decent

So I`m in the bathroom and they come back and start banging again. I shout that I said I`ll be there in a minute. They carry on banging and swearing. Basicly there were 2 guys out there shouting abuse because I hadn`t dropped everything to let one of them into his room

I guess I`m just
off because I get less money and more abuse. The weekend goes quick enough as it is without having to be constantly running up there.

Ok, Im done. Thanks for listening

You need to find out why you are making less that person who had job before you. I would not do it for less, espeically with the bothering at all time of the day & night.

I would be angry as well. I think you ought to make as much money at it as the other person was making.

Did they ask you to do this, or just make you do it? Is there a way you could quit doing the weekend bit and keep your regular job? Sounds like it's way more of a hassle than they're paying you for.

Keep in mind that building managers get free rent to deal with those same things-- way more than 10£! I'd have a hard time not telling them to find someone else to do it.

I agree.... Don't do it! Is it in your job description, or this is an extra? Good luck!

There are a few people with learning diffs, most have mental health and/or addiction problems. They are a nice bunch really

I kind of felt pressured into it. There are two full time members of staff and they work really hard so I don`t think it`s fair they do weekends as well. Then their is the owner, he runs a building business also and lives about 30 minute drive away so I`d feel bad as I`m already here

When I asked about the money he said she was doing 'other stuff
' and got all defensive. People seem to think something was going on between them

He did say this morning he wouldn`t ask me again and had the manager speak to the guy.
