in 24 hours or more.

I have had this little guy for a day now.. and he hasn't pooped yet and I'm getting worried.

He's about 8 days old. He's on KMR, about every 2-3 hours. 3-5ccs per feeding. He pees every time... but no luck with the poop. I just can't seem to get him to go.. :\\

Is there anything I can do for him, make the formula richer or something?

My little bottle baby sometimes went a day or two between bowel movements. If he doesn't go by tomorrow I think I would call the vet.

Have you considered adding a drop or two of Karo syrup? My vet says to call him if they don't poop for 24 hours...do you have a vet you can call to advise you?

Still hasn't gone this morning.

Yeah, I can call the rescue's vet if he doesn't go.

I've never used Karo syrup before, what's that?

karo syrup is corn syrup. I think "karo" is the brand name of corn syrup in the U.S.

I had a puppy do the same thing...and I actually had to take the puppy to the vet for an enema....but that was after 3 days..so a vet call may be good just to keep kitty comfortable.

He pooped this afternoon. Thank god. Right before I went to call the vet.

So should he be getting corn syrup at all then to keep this from happening?.. I've never had a problem with it before.

My vet says yes to add it if they have issues with pooping, but that's something you should talk to your vet about.

Huh, wha? LOL

Anyway. Just thought I'd update.

He's been pooping every day now. More than once so that's good. I dunno what was wrong.

he was probably just stressed.

I know when i got my two at 3 weeks the boy didn't poop for 3 days. I took him twice to the vet and they gave him two enemas and he STILL wouldn't go for me (keep in mind, he did go during the enemas). Finally he did, and from then on he was fine.
