I am so sorry this is happening to you. If I lived in Arizona I would foster your cats for you until you could take them back. The IRS is notorious for ruining peoples lives.

You should be able to get disability for your Huntingtons Disease but that will take time because you have to fight with the government to get that.

It's so hard to lose everything. I was in a awful situation many years ago where I lost everything to a terrible human being and by a miracle I kept my cats. We lived in a confined space for 8 months until I could get back on my feet again. It is the worst feeling in the world. Things do eventually turn around.

Sending you lots of

Thanks everyone. the responses definitely help.

I got a little more info and i'm nervous. the lady that will take them fosters the cats in a garage. there are currently 10 other cats there. Tinker and wilbur have never seen other cats until the fosters came and I coudln't put them together because their presence stressed both of them out so bad. I'm terrified of what they'd feel being dumped into a garage with 10 other cats..

oh i don't know what to do now.

Oh, man... there have to be some other options.

HEY - TSC MEMBERS IN AZ, NM, W. TX, COL., gotta be something someone can do to help JT out with Tink and Wilbur!!!

JT - try posting an emergency request in SOS cats here... maybe someone in your area will step up!

well, i thought it over, and I'm goig to trust this lady. I mean I know how thorough the rescue group is, they made it hard for me when I wanted to join, and I know they truly care. The lady emailed me back when I told her my concern and said this:

They will probably hide for a little bit.....but the cats that I have are nice cats. Ok....one is a little onery sometimes but not scarey.
I guess at this point I just need to have faith in them.

The reason it's so hard is because of how much i love them. I shut myself off from most people, so my cats are my family. the copmanionship and friendship you get from a significant other. It fills the holes of the lonely times. So I'm so attached to them it's excruciating to think i'm leaving them in 2 days.

sorry to hear about your $$$ issues! is your mom allergic? [just wondering why you had to give up your furbabies...]

i moved back home around 20 years ago [i'm 50] & tried like everything to find a home for my cat [the one i had at the time] but was unable to. [my mom doesn't like having animals in the house, especially one w/a litterbox!] mom recognized i had really tried, & she relented. Medley died about a year after i moved back - i'm really glad i was unable to find her a home, since i wouldn't have been w/her at the time of her passing if that had happened.

anyway, you're not a loser, you're just down on your luck. i'm sending 'feel better' & your way!

ETA: hey, i've already got 5 in a 927 square foot house... but if you want, i'll take your cats! [dfw metroplex area].

*hugs* I'm so sorry that you are having to deal with all of that and have had to make the decision to rehome your babies

I hope that you are able to raise the funds to make the move that you need to, and that things will get better for you in the near future. I hope that 2009 brings some very positive things your way.

wow, what an absolute nightmare! I give you a lot of credit, you are obviously a strong person, I would have melted into a screaming ball of mush by now. I'm very very sorry this is all happening to you at once and I so wish you could find a way to keep Tinker and Wilbur

You know there was book written just recently about Huntington's disease?

Where in Arkansas does your mother live?

Also, if you check on catster.com, they have a "cat railroad" that sometimes can move cats.

Too bad we aren't still doing our dedicated run from Dallas to Phoenix and back. We could have bypassed the return run and taken your stuff to Arkansas. We actually have a house up there in Waldron.

I feel really bad about your cats; I hate to see anyone give up something they have put that much love into.

If you could find a place to store your stuff for a little while, would that help out? Or would you be willing to sell it at a pretty steep discount? I have a number of friends in the Tucson/Phoenix area in my hot rod club.

Oh my, I just read this thread and don't know what to say...

I knew something was up from your other thread, but GEEZE-you are having a tough time of it! Just know that now that things can only go up from here. I pray that everything works out and that someone on TCS like laureen227 can foster your babies until you get back on your feet.

MEGA VIBES!

I'm so sorry to hear about all your problems.

I'm not far from Phoenix. I could take your kitties if you don't find a better place, or find a way to take them with you. However, I'm not sure it would be any less stressful than the place you already found for them. I still have six cats in the house: my original two plus the stray who wandered in last summer and her three kittens who are almost 14 weeks old.

It never occurred to me to keep Goldy separated from the other two once the had checked her out. I'd have to do some rearranging to make a space for them that can be closed off, but it could work temporarily.

I really hope somebody can help you move your kitties to Arkansas so you don't have to give them up.

JT, are you absolutely sure you're going to give Tinker and Wilbur to the shelter lady? Do you know her personally? Just in my opinion, I'd feel a whole lot safer entrusting them to a TCS member first as a temporary arrangement and then letting that TCS member look for someone who is 100% suitable to take your kitties in (meaning no other cats) and maybe even adopt them for life if you definitely can't come back for them.

I know you love your two very much, and I think that finding a good place for them would ease your worry to a great extent.

I really really hope someone with the right "conditions" will show up and lend a helping hand with Tinker and Wilbur. Do keep us updated. You are constantly in my thoughts!

While I cannot thank you guys enough for the geneerous offers to help, i'm kind of in a bind right now.

here's the status. The lady said she could pick them up tomorrow. I've been scrambling trying to find a flight or bus fare to get to little rock (then have to get to hot springs which is where i'm going). Well I found yesterday on southwest I could fly for 189. Delta for 380. Saturday southwest is 380 (delta same). Bus fare for 3 miserable days is 200

So this morning I was looking and NOW if i fly southwest tomorrow it's $89.00.

There's no way I can avoid that difference in price. i HAVE to fly out tomorrow. So what I'm doing is having the lady pick up my family tomorrow morning before I go.

My options are so limited. THANKFULLY i sold most of my stuff on Craig's list yesterday. I was selling my tv. I paid $2500 for it 6 months ago. I sold it for 950. The guy came to get it and saw my camera, and a LOT of other electronics i have. My laptop, my hd vid cam (which i got fixed), a 400 electronic dewalt drill etc.

I sold the whole lot to him for $1800.00. It was a gift from god that he came here. And for him it was a treasure. every single thing I sold him was mint. not a scratch on it, and nothing over 8 months old. it was at least $5000 worth of goods. But at this point I couldn't ship it or pack it, so i had to sell it.

I am spending my last day with my cats but damnit they know something is wrong. They keep hiding under the bed, and Wilbur started spraying EVERYTHING. the stove, the fridge, the cabinets, the couch, my bed, the little tv, the desk, everywhere. I used the last of the urine gone, but thankfully walgreens is open so i can buy another bottle. Just so it doens't get so bad. It's not fair for me to leave this place a mess for the landlord, but I can't do much.

Ah, Hot Springs. I worked there for a summer in 1969, and we lived there for 3 years or so back in 1987 or thereabouts.

Sounds like things are going a little better for you. Any chance of getting the kitties back later?

Well I can get them. but the problem is my mother has alergies (asthma) and I can't keep them there.

I have to figure something out. I'm going to see about renting a really cheap place there just so i can get my babies back. I'm a full grown man that's been
crying for two days because I'm so distraught to get rid of them. If this were just me and my stuff I could easily handle it.

Yes, it is hard when you have responsibility for other beings. On the other hand, that's one of the things that gives each of us "value," what we do for others. You did a great thing in bottle raising them, something that I would be reluctant to take on, knowing the labor and love involved.

Rents are pretty reasonable in Hot Springs, if you don't want to live on the lake. And you can get just a few miles out of town and get really reasonable.

Excellent!!
Whatever you find, if it's dirty it'll easily clean up with hot water and soap. As long as you've got your babies you'll do ok!

Keep us updated.
