Vac's before spay update

ok my boy and girl are home from the spay nueter, vet said saturday rabies was fine for todays surgery. my guy is great up and about but clingy to me, my little girl(the runt) is mostly out but when she got up she cry's, i called the vett they said its ok but i feel so bad. all she does is sleep get up and cry and sleep. they told me i could give her some water in a sryinge and if shes not more alert to byy the AM to bring her right in. i guess im a nervous mommy but is this ok? also she licks the stiches when shes awake and i read something about making a sock thing to put on her so she cant lick, can anyone help me here with how to do it? the elizabethan collar i have foe her is too big so i searched this site but cant find the sock thing. any help would be great cause these are my children and i feel helpless to make them feel better.

The use of pain medications after a spay or neuter is an ongoing discussion, but some people say that no pain medication after a spay is cruel. You might have that discussion with your vet.

The sock thing is to take a large sock, cut of the toe, then slip it onto the cat covering the sutures. Some people cut leg holes, some don't. I hope someone else can give you more particulars.

they did give her pain meds to bring home but said she ant have any until tomorow which i will follow. i have had cats all my life but they always came already spayed from the shelters except for one and that was in 1990. if i didnt post it this is the spay nueter of the fosters that lost thier mom at 3 weeks and ifound that fostering makes a very strong bond so maybe i am overeacting. if she keeps getting at the stiches i will do the sock thing. the little guy has finaaly left his boy parts alone thankfully

oh i forgot she was also given amoxiclillin for home too.

I think that any of the ladies who have had a hysterectomy can sympathize with the pain thing. My wife said she felt like a gutted fish, for a while.
