My normally fairly quite cat has been very vocal as of late. It's a high pitch meow, but he keeps looking at me like he's trying to tell me something

I made sure he has plently of food, fresh water, attention, afection, but still, lots and lots of vocals.

What else can I be missing?

Since this seems to be a sudden change in behavior I suggest that you take him to the vet to be checked for illness.

Or...if he is not neutered, he may be responding to nearby females in heat.

A vet visit sounds like a good idea.

i was wondering what KIND of kitty you have and how old? Some kitties are MORE vocal than others. For example, the Siamese, orientals, Abyss kitties can be pretty vocal.

Take care, okay?

Cheers!

He's is 'fixed' and just about a year old now. He was a stray, we got him from our local HS. I agree with the vet visit, but there are no other changs, not sleeping more, no less active. One new introduction is we just recently started allowing him near catnip. We hadn't before, but a toy we recently got him had it, and we decided to see if he would respond. I was thinking perhaps it was due to this, so I am not sure.
