As some of you know, we picked up Hobbes about 6 weeks ago. He's been a wonderful cat who is well behaved -- we're all crazy about him.
Right now he's a 9 month old male and weighs about 7-8 pounds. When we got him from the shelter he was a very skinny cat. We've been feeding him dry Nutro Max and he really likes it but we're just not sure how much to feed him.
According the instructions on the food bag, for his age and weight, we should be feeding him about 3/4 cup of the dry food per day. We usually give him a 1/2 cup in the morning (which he sometimes doesn't finish off) and another 1/4 cup around dinner time. The problem is he still seems to be hungry after the evening 1/4 cup, and in the morning is meowing like crazy for his 1/2 cup breakfast -- you'd think we were starving him.
How much should we be feeding him? He is still considered a kitten so should we just let him eat as much as he wants?
Thanks for you input.
