The vet told me to give Scarlett a mix of rice and a/d, baby food, or chicken breast, or a mix of her kibble and chicken breast. He said to avoid the a/d if possible, though, because the high fat content could be bad for her diarrhea in and of itself.
I had a frozen chicken breast and boiled it, but it smelled off so I didn't want to give it to her. I gave her a mix of a/d and rice and she liked that and ate almost all of it(she somehow managed to eat around some of the rice).
So yesterday I bought chicken baby food (the only ingredients are chicken and chicken broth), and she really doesn't like it (I think it's beech nut). I even mixed the rice, a/d, and baby food and she still wouldn't eat it.
This morning I tried just giving her the a/d and rice but she won't eat it. I think she's suspicious that there's baby food in there.
I'd rather try to get her to eat some sort of baby food rather than chicken breast, because I'm supposed to be away for a few days to spend Thanksgiving with my fiance's family. My cousin, who is my roommate, or my mom could feed her, but I'd rather not ask them to cook for her (I'm already going to have to ask them to give her her medication; quite a difficult process).
So, all that to say, are there any particular meat baby foods that your cats have eaten in the past?
(This is quite a departure from my mom's dogs, whose favorite foods include 'anything that doesn't eat them first', lol
)
edit to ask: can you buy the a/d food at the store, or is it only available from the vet?
