I dont know how many of you remember but I joined TCS last December right after getting my Chestnut because he had a seziure, well it happened again today.

Last year the day I picked him up he got his distemper booster. After the seziure when they did blood work it showedthat he was anemic (non-regnerative). We then found out that he had a HORRIBLE case of roundworm when he threw one up in the vets office. He hasn't had another episode since then, and his blood work came back clean (aka no more anemia)

Well today I brought Chestnut and Gizmo in for their annual shots. We are trying to get the two of them on the same schedule since they were a month apart, the vet suggested now would be good to bring them both in. They both got the 3-year rabies and the annual distemper. Well a few hours after we got home Chestnut begain cunvusling again. I made sure to watch the clock this time it started at 5:58, he stopped convulsing at 6:01 (right as the clock changed) and started walking around at 6:05 (I was already on the phone with the e-vet)

Could this be a reaction to the distemper? I'm so worried about my baby! He seems fine now, maybe a little tired, but not really much more than usual... vibes would be appreciated. I have a call into my vet, I'm waiting to hear from him.

I would talk to the vet .
Like I said, I have a call in already. I did ask him to run another CBC today, so at least we can rule that out right away.

I would think it's a reaction to the shot(s). I'm paranoid spastic - my cats get distemper & rabies seperately. Chestnut may not be a candidate for regular vaccinations - you might consider checking with your vet about titer testing to determine if/when shots are needed.

Thanks,
Some cats react bad to shots.
I agree on getting titters done to see if they need shots.
I have a cat now that had bad reactions to shots so she dosent get them.
My cats stay inside though.

I am so sorry that you have to go through this.
I know exactly how you feel, and how terrifying it is to watch your baby have seizures. Kiwi went into convulsions after having an allergic reaction to the anastetic they used for her spay surgery. I have never been so terrified in my life. Sending vibes that your little guy is back to his old self real soon. Hang in there.

Seizures are frightening and IMO the vaccinations may have caused it. My vet gives the shots seperate and also recommends titers. My cats have had reactions to vaccinations so I don't do them, but they stay indoors. My Pup just had a Rabies shot and had a couple of seizures. There are actually some things going on right now because of the reactions animals are having to Rabies shots, you might want to research Rabies vaccination reactions. Also reactions to other vaccinations but Rabies is the big issue people are trying to get changed right now. You might also research AVMA guidelines on vaccination as they have made some changes.
