Hi,
This is my first post, I am really excited to have found this forum. I have a 13 year old cat who 5 years ago was diagnosed with Feline Leukemia Virus. He has never had any symptoms of it yet, so we have been very blessed. He is getting older and I would like to keep him around as long as possible. I came across a product online called The Transfer Factor for pets and have read really great reviews on it. So much so that they go on to say that some kitties have actually recovered from FLV. It's basically molecules found in bovine colostrum that transfer immunity to whoever takes it. It's made by a company called 4Life and they claim that it 'boosts the iq' of the immune system by transferring immunity memory molecules. It all sounds confusing, just wondering if anyone had any experience with this product.
Thanks!

I would ask the vet.
Someone in another group just told me to use it for Coco because of her ecoli and age.
She is going to send me info on it.
I plan to ask my vet about it.
I would never try anything with out asking a vet.
This is what she posted to me. Regarding Coco, did you get a chance to look at
Transfer Factor or D-mannose? I really think one or both
of those two supplements can help her, and they
are considered very safe to give to cats. The Transfer Factor
can help provide overall immune support. The
D-mannose would help w/ E-coli bladder infections.
As an older cat, she could benefit from some support.
Let me know if you need more specific info on either
of these.

I always keep some in my refrigerator in case of emergency.
There is a member here who used it with success, let me go find her info and I will come back here and post it.

Her username is MzJazz2u ........ here is a very long thread of how it helped her precious boy Jake. Jake did eventually pass away, but it helped him so much. I started reading up on it and was really impressed. Thats when I ordered it and will always keep it with me.

The holistic vet recommended it for my cat, Buster, who suffers from cancer. I never did buy it yet. Is it given in a pill form or is it sprinkled on food?

My two girls went on it at 12 weeks because of Ringworm and other ongoing issues, it is to help build the immune system. I have contacted the company a couple of times to get inforamtion, my vet actually put them on it. They have two diiferent products you can use, Transfer Factor Stress pack and another one for Felines, I don't remeber the name offhand. The Stress pack is intended to use short term for illness, stress, surgery etc. as it is more powerful. The other is for long term use and has vitamins as well as the Transfer Factor at a lower concentration. My girls were on the Stress Pack for two years at a low dose and IMO it seems to have kept thier problems more managed. I have now taken them off it, I would love to put them on the one for long term use but right now we are working on other stuff and they can't handle too many changes at onc, not even vitamins. For about six months they were on the Human formula, Advanced ,as it has less stuff in it, that was also prescribed by my vet and she gave me the dose. At the time I was not feeding canned so I mixed it with 3cc of water in a syringe, they loved it and all I had to do was call "vitminies" and they would come running. There is not anything in it to hurt your kitty and most vets use it for sick animals.

I know someone who uses it on a regular basis. She says her elderly dogs are much more spry since she started using it. What she uses is a tasteless powder that she adds to their food.

There is a local vet here that uses it with great success. More vets are becoming aware of it's benefits. I am going to order some for my dog and cats that have problems. I too, have read that the human formula is used for animals. The human variety does not contain yeast which may be a problem for some animals.

Will be interested to know what you use.

Well I just ordered my first bottle. I will keep you all posted on Benny's progress. He has been losing weight and I really hope that this stuff helps him get some meat back on his bones! Thank you all for your replies and information.

My 2nd oldest cat Taco has osteosarcoma of the soft tissue; basically a malignant tumor to his scruff area, believed to be related to previous vaccines. He had surgery to remove the tumor once in April, then it returned 4 weeks later; I again had it removed with larger margins....and sadly, a new tumor developed 3.5 months later, in the same vicinity. He's also developed 2 new tumors, since. I was not going to put him through more surgery, or try chemo/radiation.......but I wanted to do something......so figured if I could at least try to boost his immune system, that might lessen the chance of the tumor(s) spreading..........and help him to feel better overall.

I started him on Transfer Factor Plus Tri-Factor at the beginning of October. I give him a whole capsule each day. He's doing wonderfully. His tumors have continued to grow but he's still full of pep (great for age 15 yrs), coat is shiny and sleek, good appetite, no weight loss.

I find the capsules are far too large for me to feel comfortable giving orally (I've done in a couple times but it's just so long, makes me nervous, even when syringing 3 cc's of water into his mouth following)....so I bought some empty gelatin capsules (iherb.com) and dump out half of a capsule into a #1 size gelcap......and then give a half cap morning and night. I can't try mixing it with food as I have 4 other cats and there'd be no way to ensure he got it all. this works well for us!

Sept 8 is when I found the new tumor that is now the size of a very large shelled walnut........(it was pea sized on Sept 8).......but he's doing amazing well and I can't help but think it's due to the Transfer Factor.

I wasn't sure which one to order, there is one specifically for pets (cats) but the lady i ordered it through stated that Transfer Factor Plus Tri-Factor is the one that's best for a cat w/ cancer or very significant health issues.......and that that's the one that Vets would use.

I decided to buy a bottle of Trans Factor Plus on Sunday at the holistic pet store. So far, he's only had two doses but I hope it helps him with his chemotherapy sessions. I mixed it in his wet food and he ate some of it. I'm probably going to mix it in some tuna juice or chicken broth and syringe it in his mouth.

Did it work for ringworm? Did you give them 1 pill/day? Thanks!

My cats are currently on Missing Link, as prescribed by the holistic vet we went to, but I'm thinking of changing them to Transfer Factor, so this has been an interesting thread. I have a feline herpes positive kitty and an older kitty with some kidney issues.

Just an update: I have had Benny on Transfer Factor Classic 3 capsules a day now for about 2 weeks, and he is noticeably different. He has gained a half a pound and is really energetic. Instead of laying in 'his corner' as I call it, he is following me around the house and eating much better.
Just wanted to let you all know.

I gave Buster a Transfer Factor capsule tonight mixed in low-sodium chicken broth and I notice a big difference! Buster has been diagnosed with transitional cell carcinoma and has been receiving chemotherapy treatments. As a result, he tends to act sleepy and lethargic. After I administered the supplement, he has been acting rambunctious - jumping up HIGH on a shelf to eat his sister's food, running around the room, playing in boxes, etc. I haven't seen him like this in ages!

Are you supposed to start with a small dose of the transfer factor and increase or just start with one pill? For a cat.

hi,

i have 2 cats that are older one is 17 and the other is 10 that have started to develop problems.

one was born with fiv, but just recently developed a problem with one ear, infection? weird growth? within last week

the older cat developed same problem  a few weeks back, scratching at ear, making it bleed etc.

i am thinking about getting the transfactor plus.

i have tried cleaning the ears with ear cleaner and mite treatment, but i have to take next course of action.

i also put emt a natural wound treatment on the ears, seems to help.

i will also do another high dose of vitamin c on both cats.

i will call my vet tommorow and ask some questions,

i can not afford to bring cats to vet, which i will do within next 2 weeks,

things sort of went in a tail spin for me, i had, to deplete all of my emergency money for bills, utililities, taxes 1 week ago.

it was a forward step, wipe the slate clean,

i did find out that i am going back to work in 1 to 2 weeks also.

i have stepped up my cats diets about 5 months ago, to diamond maintenance cat purple bag,

i will also switch their water from city water to filtered water, cause from what i have heard the city water is just no good.

i did order colloidal silver immune boost, and ear treatment. it is coming priority mail,

recomended by someone on a different forum.

i did have a sales person, call me about the trans factor, i do not have credit cards, but i do have paypal money

so i can order the transfactor, going to talk to vet, and i would also like to hear someone who has a success story

to share with me, could this someone pm me with their phone number, if you like.

thanks jeff

Hi Jeff, whatever happened with your two cats?  Did you get help for them?  You mentioned you are using a purple bag diamond maintenance food.  I believe from my experience working many years with cats and many holistic vets believe the best thing you can do for your cat's immune system and health is to feed raw meat.  Because cats are obligate carnivores.  Dry food is junk food for cats.  At the very minimum, a really good canned food is far better than dry food, which just creates all kinds of health problems.  I think they have a forum on this site on raw meat.
