Took all three to vet today and asked for assistance with the Drontal pill for Bobs as she hates medicines of any kind.

They used a pill pusher immediately followed with a small syringe with just a few cc's of water. The vet said that will make her swallow. Seemed to do the trick. She said she has been using this method lately with success.

Thought I would pass along.

Sounds good but I still find the pill pockets the easiest. I put them on the floor, cat eats them up. No fuss, no muss, no holding.

That would assume that the cat liked the Pill Pocket (Punkin doesn't) and has never had anything nasty in a Pill Pocket, like benadryl (Ella has).

Hannah likes her pills in cheese, please! If it works, I don't mind giving her a bit of cheese to get the pill in her.

I've tried the pill-pocket trick: my cats looked at me as if to say, "Do you think we're stupid or something?!"

My new vet told me about washing the pill down with water, and it works really well (don't know why the old vet never informed me of this
). And I think I read somewhere once that it's better to do it that way, b/c if the pill gets stuck, it can cause damage to the throat or something (I don't recall the exact details). So I make sure I always wash their pills down with water now.

Thanks for posting this though, Gail.
A lot of peeps aren't aware of this - myself included at one time.
