Try this, DH loves it. This year though we are safing it for Christmas dinner. Normally we have it for Thanksgiving but this year we have to spread the funds out a bit.
Seven Layer Green Salad
1 head lettuce(I use Iceberg)
1 green pepper, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
6 sm. green onions, chopped
10 slices bacon, cooked crisp
1 pkg. frozen green peas
Grated cheddar cheese
2 c. mayonnaise
1 c. sour cream
2 pkgs. Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing (original)
Layer first 6 ingredients twice. Mix topping ingredients and frost salad. Grate cheddar cheese on top.
Chill in fridge for 2-4 hours before serving.
Miracle Whip can be used in place of mayo and sour cream.
You can also leave out the Ranch Dressing and just use mayo and sour cream, salt and pepper to taste if the flavors are too overwhelming.
As for what we are doing, I am cooking turkey with my special bacon herb blend(Ill post the recipie if any one wants it. Plus stuffing, green been casserol, mashed potatoes, maple roasted sweet pototoes, a salad, dinner rolls, cranbery sauce, and gravey. I don't know about the pies yet, we may just have pumpkin ice cream. We are having a few people from my work come, ever since Atips death we have all become more of a family and prefer to be together more than anything. After dinnier its off to one of the local dive bars to meet up with everyone else for drinks and fun.
Too menagerie mama:
If you use garlic to flavor, take the extra time to roast it, it gives it more flavor plus will help bring out the oils in it to help make the potatoes moist. I found these, apperently the trick with vegan mashed potatoes is the seasoning blend. Hope these help.http://www.recipezaar.com/Creamy-Veg...otatoes-238056http://www.veganchef.com/rgmp.htm
