Hi everyone,

I've seen a lot of people posting about this issue.

I have some advise to try.

Now here is my situation -
I have an 8 year old, neutered siamese male. He gets in phases where he meows ALL NIGHT LONG.

I tried all the classic stuff- ignoring him 100%, feeding before bed, play session before bed. None of that worked.
What I found worked was not PHYSICALLY but MENTALLY exhaust him.

What I have found works include- Walks outside on a harness (he is trained for this). Car rides work miracles - after a car ride he is quiet for like a week (he is good in the car, I am lucky) Letting him loose to walk around the apartment hallways and up and down the stairwells to look around (supervised), elevator rides to the laundry room. Anything that gets his mind working.
Treat balls filled with dried food before bed seems to work, keeps him mentally busy while I'm getting ready for bed, then he seems to be quiet.

I have found anything that mentally stimulates him works, and nothing else does.

I'm not sure if this is specific to Siamese, and probably won't work for the problems that accompany unfixed cats, but worth a try if you are kept awake by the midnight meows.........

i've been fighting off some nasty virus for the last 2 weeks that started with conjuctivitus and has now developed into a full blown cold.

last night i was so tired and looking forward to a good nights sleep. oh what a fool i am! tabitha was on a mission to growl and hiss at the boys. in and out of my bedroom, lots of hissing and jumping around!

in the end i shut her downstairs with the dog and shut the boys and coco in the rest of the house. this was about 1am.

couldn't sleep so now at 8am i feel rubbish.

i know tabby's problem is nothing less than wanting to get back out to the mouse nest at the end of the garden.

god advice though for normal cats. thing is, i know she'll be stretched out on the bed at some point today, just because she can!

That's very interesting. I can see how it might be mental stimulation that is needed rather than physical stimulation.

Thanks for the post! It's given me food for thought.

Thanks for the advice.
Will a neutered male still look for females?
