1. How long have you lived in Canada?
All of my life - over 46 years.

2. How many other States have you visited? What was your favorite?
I haven't travelled much. I have been the North Dakota, Michigan and Minnesota. I can't really say I have a favourite because I really only saw stores when not inside the house or driving.

3. If you won a million dollars, what would you do with the money?
I've fantasized about this a great deal! I would have my brother $100,000 so that he could pay off his debts and retire. I would give $50,000 to each to my niece and 2 nephews. And I would establish a $50,000 education fund for each of my great niece and 2 great nephews. I would give $10,000 to The Winnipeg Humane Society. . That should leave me with just under $600,000. I would buy a 2 or 3 bedroom home (approx cost $200,000 to $300,000). I would buy a new bed, new couch and a new kitchen table, a non extravagant car (approx $20,000) and put the rest into investments.

4. What is your favorite animal other then cats?
I love all animals. But if I had to pick just one, I'd say bunnies

5. Where would you like to spend your next vacation and why?
I've never really been on a "vacation" so to speak. I've gone to visit friends and family, but no where exotic. I've never really been bitten by the desire to travel to other places. Though next year in the fall if I can manage it, I would love to go visit friends on the West Coast of Australia.

6. What is your favorite vegetable and least fav veggie?
There are least favourite veggies?
I love all veggies and can't get enough of any of them.

7. Are you single or married or something else?
Singe, not involved with anyone currently.

8. Do you have children?
No kids. Never wanted them. My kitties are my kids.

9. Have you met any celebrities and if yes, who were they?
Yes, many. I posted about it in another thread, so rather than repeat it I'll just link to it:

http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2093686&postcount=10

10. Do you think you can keep up with all our questions?
I'll try. I'm working 5 day shifts starting tomorrow, so I may be slow to respond, but I will get them answered

mews2much;2473295

How long have you had Asthma?
Officially diagnosed in 1995, but I probably had it earlier and didn't realize.

Have you ever been to California or the Us?
I have been to a few norther states in the US, but never as far as California. Earthquakes scare me.

What do you like about Canada?
Several things:
1. We are progressive and aren't afraid to pass laws that benefit the people;
2. We tend to mind our own business as a country, which means that we're under the radar when it comes to foreign enemies.
3. Our elections only last a few months

4. We have a pretty National Anthem;
5. We're the second largest country in the world and have lots of natural forest area and even our largest cities don't seem that crowded.

What is your favorite food?
Chocolate!

Do you like fondue?
Not really. I'd rather have a plate of something in front of me instead of having to mess around with skewers and having to cook bits and pieces as I eat. I don't like chocolate or cheese fondues either. I'd rather have it all dipped and ready to eat instead of fiddling as I want to eat.

Do you get Asthma at night?
My Asthma is usually seasonal and/or allergy and/or exercise related. If I'm taking my steroid inhaler I'm pretty symptom free. If I am not on a steroid inhaler and my asthma is triggered by something, it is usually worse at night because I am laying down.

What kind of temps to you like?
Mid 20's Celsius is perfect. I don't like extreme cold or extreme hot.

- Honestly? The money. I was getting no where working dead end office jobs. I had no benefits, no savings and lived pay cheque to pay cheque. I made a decision to return to school but because I had bills and knew I couldn't live long on student loans, I knew I could only spend 2 years in school. I also had 2 other criteria that had to be met for the course I would take: job security/mobility and money. My first choice was Radiologist. Second was Dental Hygenist and nursing was last. Radiologists make more money than nurses, but technology isn't the same all over so the ability to relocate would be "iffy". I decided that I really didn't want to look into people's mouths all day. So nursing was it. I have a love-hate relationship with my job.

Who is your favorite actor and actress?
-I don't have a favourite actor/actress. I tend to watch a movie for the storyline, not because of the actors in the rolls. Chances are after I've seen the movie I wouldn't be able to tell you who was in it. I do enjoy watching Johnny Depp though. He's both talented and easy on the eyes

Have you ever travelled outside of Canada?
-Just to a few of the northern states. Never over seas.

What is your favorite gemstone?
-Aquamarine, black onyx, ruby and emerald.

Do you like country music?
- Yes, some. I don't like the old twany sounding stuff. But the music from the 80's onward is ok. Reba McIntyre is my favourite. I saw her in concert. Amazing!

If there was one thing you could change in the world what would it be?
- I would want everyone in all countries to have peace and all work together to make this world a better place for everyone.

Stefan Dion or Steven Harper?
- This is a trick question, right?
The NDP got my vote, so my answer is "neither".

What is your favorite Past-time?
- Working on my art.

Who is your favorite Author?
- Tolkien. He created a whole new world complete with languages and managed to actually make it seem like it's part of our world's current history.

Who is the person alive or pasted on who inspires you?
- No one really. I tend to find my inspiration from within myself.

If it were possible to pick a movie that you could visit or live in, what movie would it be?
- The Lord of the Rings, but I'd only want to visit or live in Lothlorien or Rivendell.

What is your least favourite emotion?
- Anger

Are you a morning person or a night person?
- More of a night person. But only until about 2am.

Is there anyone at your work that you have a crush on?
- The ward I work on is all women, so no. I have been staying on the ward in the lounge for my breaks so I haven't really seen any men other than some of the residents/doctors, and none made me think "wow!" There used to be a guy who worked as a nursing assistant. He was from South Africa and was so yummy!!! Not sure where he went though. I haven't seen him around in years.

How do you deal with losing a patient at work?
- It depends. If they have been on the ward for a length of time and I've looked after them lots and have gotten to know them, it's hard. It's never easy, but when you get to know them and their family, it's hard. I save my tears for when I'm alone and cry quietly and then get on with my life. But there have been some patients that have died years ago that I still think about to this day. In fact I was just thinking about one lady yesterday, who had died about 7 years ago.

Do you like snow?
- I think it's pretty, but I could live without it!

Do you have friends (real life) that are not Canadian?
- Yes.

Thank you for letting me pry into your life.
- You're welcome

What is your favorite breakfast food?
- I'm not really one to have breakfast regularly, but if I do I love the following depending on my mood:
Special K with Red Berries
Toast, cheese slice, fruit cocktail and yogurt

Favorite type of pie?
- Banana Cream. I like apple too, but banana cream is my favourite.

Do you collect anything?
- musical snow globes. I only have 3 though.

Favorite tv show?
- Three's Company

Do you like to get dressed up and go out or would you rather stay at home?
- It depends on my mood. I do love to dress up and go out, or rather I used to. But I've gained so much weight since I've been off work and don't really have any dress clothes that fit me right now, and I hate shopping because it seems that everything for large women tend to look like tents. So these days I would rather stay home.

What's one of the weirdest things you've ever seen as a nurse?
- Let's just say that it involved a maglight and leave it at that

Favorite kind of tea?
- Tetley. So far as herbal goes, I like Tetley white tea with Raspberry.

Do you wear glasses/contacts?
- I wear glasses for distance only. Before I went off work I needed glasses all of the time, but over the last few years my eyes have changed so that I no longer need glasses for reading or the computer.

Favorite salad dressing?
- Asian Sesame for sure!

What's the one place in the world you'd like to live?
- Japan. I absolutely believe that I was born in the wrong era and into the wrong culture.

When you were a kid what did you want to be when you grew up?
- You know, thinking back I never really aspired to be anything. I had a very different child hood with lots of responsibilities, so I never really had a chance to be a "kid".

What was your favorite toy as a kid?
- My dolls and my Easy Bake Oven

What do you like to do in your free time?
- Art! I love art! I currently do 3D graphics and a couple of galleries on the net. I can't post the link publicly though because there are scantly clad figures. However anyone who wants to see it can send me a PM and I'll pass it along privately.

What three words would your friends use to describe you?
- Honest, compassionate, trustworthy.

If you were to be remembered for one thing, what would it be?
- I have to admit that you stumped me with this one. I've never given it any thought and honestly I have no idea. I have always liked to blend into the crowd and not stand out at centre stage, so the last thing I ever gave consideration too was being remembered for something.

What fictional character do you most relate to?
- Lately I would say "Wile E. Coyote" because I see my goal but something always happens to sabotage me, but I never quit trying.

Going Nova

1. Do you have any phobias?

- Yes. A horrid fear of water. But I've been working on that. I actually joined aquafit classes. The last time I went I managed to put my face in the water for about 2 seconds!!
I also don't like bugs. With the exception of flies, ants, mosquitos, butterflies, moths and lady bugs, all other bugs send me fleeing for my life!

2. What is your favorite dessert?

- Most anything chocolate. But I'm also happy to have some fruit instead.

3. Have you had any embarrassing moments? Which was the most embarrassing?

- Probably when I was 18 years old and was wearing all white and got my period while I was at the Stadium with 300 students from Nebraska that I was hosting for the weekend while they were here. It was summer and I didn't have a coat to wrap around me. It looked like a massacre
One girl drove my car to my house to get me some new clothes.

4. What makes you happy?

- I'm happiest when I see other people happy. I know that sounds corny, but it's really true.

5. Do you enjoy playing or watching any sports?

- Not really a sports enthusiast. I will watch certain sports during the summer or winter Olympics. I used to be a huge boxing fan, but haven't watched it in eons. And I can't stand playing sports mostly because I don't like to sweat.

6. Is there a type of food that you don't like?

- Jello. I've never been a fan of it because of the consistency. I do like the smell, and will mix it with juice when I make popcicles, but I won't just sit and eat a bowl of it. As a nurse I have to suction people and look after trachs, and jello just reminds me too much of mucous *blech*

7. What piece of furniture is your favorite?

- My sewing machine and cabinet. It was my Mom's and she bought it in 1963 or so. Not only is it functional, but it's one of the few things I have left of my Mom. I also really like my water bed. The rest of my stuff is more than 10 or 12 years old, so I'm due for a change!

8. Where do you like to go on vacation?

- I don't do the vacation thing. When I take holidays at work I tend to just spend them like any other days off. Next year I do want to go to Australia though. I have some internet friends on the West coast that I want to go and meet.

9. What is the best advice anyone has given you?
- Never settle for anything less than what you want. Which is probably why I'm still single. I've met men that I've liked a great deal, but none have fit all of the criteria that I am looking for in a man that I want to spend the rest of my life with. I know I'm the type of person that can turn a blind eye to some things, but there are some things that are just too important to me that I just can't overlook for the sake of companionship.

- Biology. I found it interesting and because it seemed like commonsense to me, I didn't struggle with it.

If you had someone invest in a business or business idea of yours, what would that business be?
- I would reestablish and expand on my former home-based business of bath and skin care products and gift baskets.

What is your favorite place in the whole wide world and why?
- I haven't really travelled, so that's a hard question to answer. But given the places that I have travelled to, I would have to say "right where I am right now!"

What is your favorite piece of art and why?
- I don't have one single piece of favourite art. I have such a wide, diverse appreciation of so many styles and mediums. I do tend to gravitate to the fantasy genre, and Luis Royo is way up there in my top 10 favourite artists.

What is one food you make very rarely and only when in the mood to make it?
- Anything "stuffed." Cabbage rolls or perogies. Both are so time consuming. Meatballs are another that I enjoy eating, but find tedious to make.

What 5 items are you wanting to buy for your cats? (regardless of money)
- I can think of only 2 things. They're pretty low maintenance so far as toys go.
1. Cat tree
2. A house with a bird feeder out back so that they can have live kitty TV.

What is your favorite state and why?
- I've only seen 3 cities in North Dakota, 1 city in Minnesota, and 2 places in Michigan. So I don't really have much to compare it to. But based on pictures that I see on the internet, I would have to say Alaska because they usually so such beautiful Aurora Borealis.

Do you like Japanese food? What kinds specifically?
- I have never had Japanese food.

Who is your favorite human person in your family and why?
- I have a small family so I would have to go with my brother.

Do you like Harry Potter?
- No. I've seen one or two of the movies...it might have been one movie twice, hehe. It was ok but nothing I would watch repeatedly like I did with Lord of the Rings.

What is your favorite place to be on a rainy cold day?
- At home.

What was/is your favorite pet(s) of all time and why?
- Chynna because of her loving nature and disposition. She's such a people cat and is very relaxed around people.

What is your favorite game to play?
- Scrabble!! I love actual board games that you play sitting around a table and not on a computer. I also love Backgammon but don't know anyone who plays it.

You're welcome

What is your favorite brand of chocolate?

What is your favorite kind of cookie?

What is your favorite color?

Those were kind of random, but there you go.
Also, I would love to see your gallery if you would like to PM it to me!

I'll send you a link when I get back from work. Unfortunately I never remember to save a copy of the public link and always access it through my account, so I have to dig it up again

Besides Tolkien, who is your second favorite fantasy author?
- I don't read a lot of fantasy books. In fact Tolkien was the first ones of that genre that I have read. I actually prefer crime thrillers or medical mysteries.

Who is your favorite character in the Lord of the Rings?
- Sauron actually. You've got to admire his tenacity!

Do you do any writing, or mainly just artwork?
- Yes, I do write short stories and have had an offer to publish a novel, but I couldn't get over my shyness about showing my writing to the "world" so I never followed up on the offer. I've also had an offer to publish a short story that I wrote about 5 years ago, but again that whole shyness thing. I used to love to write poetry, but I only seem to be able to do that when I'm feeling really depressed and sad. I don't get that way very often. I think the last poem I wrote was probably 20 years ago.

Did you ever play "pretend" when you were little? What did you pretend to be, if you did?
- Yes. All of the time. I used to dress up in my Mom's clothing and pretend I was a grown up.

What frustrates you the most about other people?
- Stupidity and a defeatest attitude.

What always makes you angry?
- I don't get angry. But when I hear about people abusing or mistreating children, women and animals, that really bothers me.

What is your favorite brand of chocolate?
- I don't have a favourite brand. I just love all forms of chocolate!

Have you ever played a role playing game?
- Yes. I tried dungeons and dragons board game decades ago. Didn't much care for it. Then for a couple of years I played an online role play game called "Ultima Online" for a couple of years. I wasn't much good at it, and eventually got bored with it. It was a way to waste time. I can't say that I liked it.

What is your favorite kind of cookie?
- Chocolate Chip or something lemon.

What is your favorite color?
- Green

If I came to visit you, what would you take me to see?
- It would depend on the time of year that you came. But we have lots of wonderful places. Some things I would love you to see:
1. The historic "Fort Garry Hotel";
2. Manitoba Museum of Man and Nature;
3. Winnipeg Art Gallery;
4. Millennium Library;
5. MTS Centre l;
6. Folklorama;
7. Fort Whyte;
8. Hecla Island;
9. The Forks;
10. Assiniboine Park;
11. Legislative Building;
12. Grand Beach;
13. The Narcisse Snake Dens;
14. A tour of some of our most historic buildings, and if you come at the right time of year, they even open some of them up for public viewing.

That's just some of the places. There are lots more.

If you came to visit me in Chicago, where would you want me to take you?
- Anywhere but Chicago O'Hare!

Have you ever met a famous person? If so, who?
- Lots! Here is a post where I talked about it
http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...7&postcount=32

What was your favorite event of your childhood?
- Sad. This answer doesn't come easily because I didn't get much of a childhood because I was forced to take on adult responsibilities at a very young age. One event that does stand out to me is the Christmas when I was 12 years old. I got more than one Christmas present for the first time in my life, and my very first pair of ice skates.

What two things could you not do when you were a child, but you can do now?
- Eat meat
- Stay up late

What is your motto?
- To each their own. I always keep that in the forefront of my mind and I think that's what gives me the great tolerance to other peoples' beliefs and actions.

What was the worst job you ever had?
- I've been pretty lucky so far as employment and employers. I can't say that I've had any bad jobs, but I have had bad managers/bosses which make the work environment bad to work in. But so far as the actual work goes, whether it was cleaning houses or boxing up year books in a book factory, I never minded any of the jobs I've done and I would do any of them again if I needed to in order to make a living, but if given the chance, I would ask for different bosses to work for.

Do you believe in the possibility of extraterrestrial life?
If you could have one super power, what would it be? Why?
What's your idea of the perfect vacation?
What's the strangest thing you've ever done?
What's the one thing you'd want to accomplish before you die?
If you were to be reincarnated as an animal, what would you want to be?
What's the one thing that most people do that drives you crazy?

Do you believe in the possibility of extraterrestrial life?
- Yes, but I don't believe they've been here and abducting people to study either: http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/sho...95&postcount=3

If you could have one super power, what would it be? Why?
- Instant transport to where I need to go. I can't stand rush hour traffic and the ability to instantly transport myself would be so awesome!

What's your idea of the perfect vacation?
- I've never been on a "vacation." I've had time off from work but haven't gone anywhere. I did go to Detroit about 5 years ago, but that wasn't really a "vacation." I went to meet someone and his house was such a state that I just couldn't stand it! So while he was at work I cleaned and did laundry the whole day!
I'm not one to just lay on a beach and do nothing, so if I went on a real vacation it would have to be active in a nonstructured way. Basically doing and going where I want, when I want and on my own time frame. No "tours" for me

What's the strangest thing you've ever done?
- One Halloween back in the 1980's the weather was gorgeous. No snow on the ground and no need to wear even a sweater. I smoked at the time and was going to a Halloween party. I had gotten dressed and was handing out candy to the kids while waiting for my friends to pick me up. I realized I needed cigarettes and walked several blocks to the store and back completely having forgotten I was dressed as "Elvira." I couldn't understand why people were honking their horns and gawking!

What's the one thing you'd want to accomplish before you die?
- I live my live for the moment and don't plan too far in advance. I can't think of anything that I would like to do before I die.

If you were to be reincarnated as an animal, what would you want to be?
- I would normally say a "cat", but I hear so many horrid stories about animals being abandoned and abused
So I would want to be reincarnated into an animal that was big and strong and wild and had the ability to take care of myself. A T-Rex would be great

What's the one thing that most people do that drives you crazy?
- Talk on their cell phones while driving, while eating, while interacting with clerks etc. Cell phones have bred a whole new generation of rude and ignorant people ... of all ages, because it's not one age group that does the above.
