Yep, for sure there is no such thing as a hypo-allergenic dog, I thought we covered that already in another thread, that is why I said, "so-called"
Pretty simple, they want a dog that doesn't shed.
On Petfinder at this very moment is the following:
Airedale Terriers - 202
Bichon - 591
Cairn Terriers - 404
Cockapoo - 152
Cocker Spaniels - 1,959
Fox Terrier - 322
Havenese - 77
Japanese Chin - 158
Lhasa Apso - 623
Maltese - 576
Poodle - 2,181
Schnauzer - 1,102
Scottish Terrier - 158
Shih Tzu - 1,655
Wirehaired Terrier - 339Yorkies - 895
TOTAL - 11,394
That isn't even all the breeds there that are non-shedding.
They have 6,896 Terriers listed in the general Terrier section. I daresay that, at least, 1,000 of them are non-shedding.
When I adopted Benji, I found him under the general Terrier listing at Petfinder and he ended up being
being a 7 month old Bichon-Poodle mix.
Why does it seem suspect to me that Obama picked the rarest, non-shedding dog that he just had
to have. One that will be very difficult to find in rescue?
Now, I am not saying it is impossible, just difficult to find a PWD. I hope I am wrong and I do have to eat crow, I really do. I think it would set such a great example if our new POTUS adopted a dog from rescue.
