It has been 90 years since the end of WWI, the "war to end all wars". Watching the broadcast from Verdun really brought the horror of war home - those huge buildings housing the bones of the dead, and the pockmarked landscape.
I don't want to turn this into an IMO topic, but please tell me I'm not crazy. Fasching/Carnival/Mardi Gras officially starts at 11 a.m. on November 11, i.e., the same time WWI ended. I really find that an affront to those who lost their lives in the Great War, on all sides.
