So LeKitty went into labor Sunday morning and had only one kitten. We were sure that she still had many more inside her and we could feel movement. She was really freaking out and kind of sort of taking care of her baby inbetween trying to get our attention. Nothing at all happened all day long. We took her to the ER vet in the evening and got an x-ray at least three more babies inside. They wanted 1500 dollars for a c-section (this is a whole nother story and I will really go off if I start talking about the price mark up at the ER vet!!I cost me the lives of two babies). Yesterday morning she delivered two more babies which were dead. Perfectly formed just dead. Then labor stopped again. She still had one baby inside and we felt no movement. Our regular vet opened and we took her in. She said that the xray did show one more baby inside and she didn't know if it would be alive but she was going to go into surgery with the attitude that she was delivery a live baby. Sure enough the baby was alive (barely) but they brought her back around and she is still doing fine this morning. Lekitty is having lots of problems mentally though. She is very confused and is trying to nurse her babies but very unsettled. She keeps getting up and is trying to pick her babies up in her mouth very rough. We are watching close and trying to decide if we will need to take the babies and put them with Felina who delivered her babies 6 days ago. We really don't want to do that but these babies are weak ,especially the miracle that was delivered csection, and they need lots of attention. Please send your vibes that LeKitty will be settled and be able to nurse her babies and be a good momma like I know she wants to be.

I would say for the kittens viability, I would put them with Felina but just for a day or two until LeKitty is settled. Since she was nursing the one girl at first, she knows she has kittens but possibly the anaesthetic has confused her and scared her. I would try that, see what happens and if worst comes to worst, you can bottle feed them and wait and see.

Of course, I am not speaking from experience because I've not had this situation, but from all of the things I've read on this site and on the net, that you should be able to save them SOMEHOW.

I am so sorry for alll of your misfortune this week, you are in my thoughts.

Thanks for your input. We are putting babies with Felina to nurse often and we are bottle feeding making sure that bellies are full. She has settled more today so I think she will do fine in the next day or two. Poor momma has been thru alot!! We do have 6 babies in all that are doing well so that is a blessing...

Lele, like I said before, I am not experienced with this type of situation, but I did just want to help. I know you will do and have been doing an awesome job. I am thinking of you and your precious kitties.

Sending mega prayers and vibes out to LeKitty to be the wonderful mom that she wants to be, and that the kittens continue to grow up healthy & happy
What a traumatic experience for you all....it's hard to believe that the ER vet would let that poor cat suffer because of $$$$. When I was a child, we lost a cat cuz she couldn't birth her babies & almost 50 years later, I am haunted by the poor thing's suffering. She was under a building, in a low crawl space where we couldn't reach her....I hope that she's now playing happily with LeKitty's lost kits, getting lots of scritches & cuddles from the angels over RB Bridge

Just thought I would let everyone know that both mommas are doing great and babies are growing like crazy. Lekitty finally settled down the day after her csection and is nursing and spending lots of time with two surviving babies...
