Do you have glass ornaments?

We have tons of glass ornaments, mostly vintage. Luckily, we haven't had a tree climber in quite some time. However, I do tie the tree so it can't be knocked over. I have 2 hooks (one in the woodwork and one in a piece of furniture) about 42" off the ground that the tree is secured to. It used to get knocked over every time I left the house.
My cats rarely break an ornament; of course, the better ones are near the top of the tree.

My neighbour's son runs an upscale home decor shop and a couple of years ago he told me upside down christmas trees suspended from the ceiling were very hip. Since I own cats I finally start to see some value to that idea.
I happened to see one in a shop day before yesterday and told my friend who has 5 cats; "look, that's what you need, if you put in in the right place they can't reach it"

Mine were not the least bit interested in the Chrismas tree last year and that just when I was looking forward to snapping pictures of them misbehaving

I used to have an antique tree and antique glass ornaments, until I got Spaz...

If I ever do another tree, I'm going to use the new mylar ornaments I keep seeing at the stores.
Think of the mylar kitty crinkle balls, only in different sizes and in Christmas colors.

I always had a big tree up. Alley never bothered them. Last year we went out of town so didn't put one up. This year I'm going to put a small one on the table and hopefully Riley and Xander will leave it alone. I'm not putting anything fragile on it though until its been up for a few days so I can see what they do

If I had a big one on the floor I know Riley would be into it for sure!

I have a number of glass ornaments (some of them antique) that are hand-me-downs from my parents. They're usually safe if I put them closer to the top of the tree. I say usually because there have been a couple that have been broken when my oldest, Katie, decides to climb the tree. This happens every other year or so.

Hubby never used to decorate before I married him. So the decorating came after the first cat (Marcie) so we were able to plan for mischevious tortie antics. We got a little 2ft fake tree (which seriously goes against my upbringing as an Oregonian) that we put the small glass balls on. The tree goes on top of my antique stereo cabinet which the girls are strictly forbidden from jumping on. The only part they mess with is the garland when we are trying to untangle it and apply it to the tree.

Before we got Darcy, we used to put up lights all over the inside of the house, but she is such a little pest when it comes to things like that so we gave up after she kept taking the lights down to examine them closer. Darn her opposable thumbs anyhow!

WE put the really oldies in the china cabinet. Then we put the sentimental stuff near the top and plastic and less breakables on the bottom. Last year was their first Christmas with us so we put the tree up in November but didn't decorate it. They had their fun and once December hit I decorated it and nothing was broken (except they ripped my tree skirt that has been passed down to a few of us).
This year, I decorated when I put the tree up. 3 days and nothing has broke yet! but they are enjoying FH's bell on the bottom of the tree... I'm not.

Actually, I've never had a tree explorer, even when I had a full sized real tree.
Me, too. Neither Tailer nor Forest have ever gone after the tree. They both like to nap on the tree skirt, but that's really it.

I do remember one year though when Alley kept opening her present under the tree
I had wrapped up some catnip mice for her, hidden it back under a pile of other gifts and she kept digging it out. I would tape it up and put it back and nearly every day she would open it and play with it

I don't do trees, not because of the cat, I just don't bother with most Yuletide decorations. The only thing I have is a 7-candle arch in my sitting room window, put up any cards I receive and stick a Santa hat on my Teddy Bear (yes, I'm very old and I still have my Teddy).

Actually, I don't think it would matter if I did do trees and all the rest of the stuff. Thingy is generally unimpressed by anything except food and sleep. She almost never leaps about indoors (although she did once jump from the arm of one sofa to the arm of another - I was stunned). Outdoors, she'll climb trees, garden fences, garden sheds and up to the roof of the covered walkway on the estate.

I guess I'm very lucky although I do complain that the cat isn't earning her keep as a cabaret artist...

One. It never goes on the tree.

Actually I think I acquired more somewhere... and then lost them to the cat and dog in the same year.

Yes, we have glass ornaments. It's going to be interesting to see how many I have left this year as this is our first Christmas with Sunny (or a cat in general). We can replace ornaments, but there's only one Sunny kitty.

Do I have glass ornaments? Yes. Do I put them on the tree? No.

So far I've only caught Ginger in the tree (and got pics - bonus!), but with Annie this year I may have a tree with lights (because it's a pre-lit tree) and the wide wire-edged ribbon.
