Or is this something Obama said that we can all agree with?

Pull up your pants!

Of course, I think it will have as much effect as Nixon saying in '68 that the young men of America needed to cut their hair.

Funny, I remember how much my mother hated the Beatles, and how the twist was that horrible dance that would plunge us all into paraplegia from spine injuries.

And I hear the police like the sagged pants. So much easier to catch a runner!

I agree...baggy pants originated in the prison system and then became a fad on the street. The Dept. of Correction published an interesting article about it a while back.

I personally do not want to see other people's underwear, this goes for the fad where girls/women would have their thong strings showing. Gross!

This is yet another horrible "fashion" trend that I can't wait to see the end of. I can only hope it will end soon, but I've been hoping that for years now so I'm not holding my breath. It has nothing to do with my getting older & being a fogey-it's just plain ugly & stupid looking, period.

Yeah. Dallas (or maybe somewhere in North Dallas) has an ordinance, but it doesn't carry any punishment.

But hey, I remember Beatle boots, Madras shirts, white levis, bell-bottom pants, tie-dyed shirts, and love beads...

Me, too, mrblanche! I guess we are both old geezers.

I hate the pants thing, too, but laughed my butt off when I saw a teenage guy ran right out of his pants because they were too heavy from shoplifting cds and was being chased by a security guard.

I still make and wear tie-dye, thank you!

Yes, folks should pull up their pants.
As for thongs showing on women, that has much more to do with the way the fashion industry has made women's pants lower cut than they used to be.
I do wear thongs if I am wearing something that panty lines would not go over well with, but I refuse to buy women's pants at all until the fashion industry realizes that not all of us want low ride waist bands.

Agreed on all counts! In the word "underwear," the operative term is UNDER!

As Obama said, it's a waste of time to pass laws about this sort of thing, "but having said that -- brothers should pull up their pants!"

I'll never understand -- how did it get to be cool to imitate crooks who got themselves sent to prison? One of the many things I'm hoping for Obama is that a lot of young men will take him as their role model, instead of thugs and drug dealers.

I'm only 24 and I think it's gross.

I had a friend who was working at Walmart. One day she was leaving and out in the parking lot there was this young man, a Walmart employee, helping an older lady load a television into her car. Well, this man had on said baggy pants and while he was holding the tv in both hands, his pants just happened to fall down. She said she busted out laughing and couldn't help it. That and I feel sorry for the lady that he was helping! I know I couldn't keep from laughing at something like that

Naw, you're not a geezer. I remember the same things you remember. We must be about the same age!

I hate the baggy pants look. It makes the wearer look like he's stupid. And when they try to walk, they look like they're walking with.....excuse me for this......a load of poop in their baggy pants.

It's an ugly and stupid fashion statement.

My friends and I hate this trend as well... (we're 19. XD) So no, you're not an 'old geezer'... just someone with taste!

The funniest thing I've ever seen was in a shopping centre one time, I was hanging around with some friends, we were standing around talking... and a guy walked by with that style of pants. He saw another couple of friends and they were chatting away about two metres away from us... when this little kid, couldn't have been more than three or four, ran up to him and jerked really hard on his pants.

Pants fell down.

This guy's hollaring and shrieking, and just about everyone around him is just wetting themselves laughing, the little boy's Mother comes up to this guy apologizing profusely... it was hilarious.

I wonder if he bought a belt after that...? Hmn. XD
