My friend won a beautiful gift basket filled with expensive perfumes and cosmetics. She's allergic, so she gave it to me. I started wearing one of the perfumes very lightly at my non-nursing job and get a lot of compliments on how good it smells. Yesterday, I put it on and was petting Speck. He smelled my wrist, made this awful face and walked away. Then I went to my sil's house. Her cats didn't seem to notice it, but when I was petting her dog made the same face! And no offense to Duke, but he doesn't really smell all that good himself! Anyway, I'm giving up the perfume to please my man Speck.

Sounds like something Forest would do. He always wants to be petted, but as soon as you stop he IMMEDIATELY has to bathe himself so he doesn't smell like you. He gets this look on his face like "Ewwww...human smell:.

Hey, it could be worse - what if he liked it so much he wanted to roll on you?

HaHa! Butzie doesn't seem to mind my perfumes but I use natural oils, not perfumes with alcohol. Actually, she really loves it when I wear Icy Hot.

Biofreeze will send Pearl and Pepper into loving, purring fuzzy machines. Vick's Vap-O-Rub runs a close second. They are such odd little creatures.

Both of my cats absolutely love Vick's Vapo Rub! Actually, they will even try to get at a sore muscle cream too. Even Halls cough drops have both of them in my face trying to smell my breath!
It must be the Eucalyptus in it.

The cat we used have, Smoke, actually liked to smell perfume. Flowers, too. He was the funniest thing...he would walk around smelling the flowers, get pollen on his the end of his nose and start sneezing.

That's so funny. I got a sample from Avon once for a new perfume. My females sniffed it and made the "ugliest" face I've ever seen a cat make. The boys in the house were following me around and wanting to smell and rub on the sample.....go figure

My silly little Mini loves my perfume, "Soft Musk" from Avon & a couple of my other light body sprays. She is a girly girl in that way, I guess & will often try to lick the places where I've sprayed myself!

I have the opposite problem with most of my lotions/scented stuff- my cats are nutso for the stuff I use!
I use Lush cosmetics for all of my bath/body/shampoo stuff just about.(I have other perfumes/products I use too, but not as much as the Lush stuff). No matter what scent I have on from Lush- all of my cats are crazy for it! Even the dogs!
The one they really go the craziest for though is a hand lotion called "Smitten" - Kojak has bitten me on several occassions trying to eat my hand
In his defense, that lotion smells so good I've even tasted it before
(It's like the most incredable almond icing ever!) http://www.lushusa.com/shop/products...creams/smitten

Rosemary that's hilarious!!! All 3 of my cats are obsessed with me everytime I put Icyhot or Flexall on!
It's the weirdest thing! They all try to lick it off of me

Don't worry, people. A friend of mine used to have a cat, Pepe, who every time she stood up would jump up on her chair and have a good sniff of the cushion on which she'd been sitting. Now that's embarrassing!

Um... do you remember the name of that stuff? If it works on human males too, it could be the answer to my lonely nights...

I never knew that cats were so sensitive to smells and such! I've got some biofreeze in the bathroom... might have to break it out to see what happens to Bodhi.

Haha I love these threads!

Kiwi is obsessed with DH's underarm deodorant. If he leaves it on the bathroom counter she starts rubbing all over it and gets this crazy look in her eyes like she needs her 'fix'. She will lay there and caress it and everything. When we are laying in bed at night Kiwi will bury her face in DH's armpits and if he happens to be sleeping with his arms above his head, Kiwi has been known to groom DH's armpits. Needless to say, DH is not overly fond of that.

Hee.. Niko does just that. I make my own vanilla perfume (just beans steeped in vodka or jojoba oil) and whenever I put it on, Niko has to sniff all the places I've put it and then rubs allllllll over me. Then he'll start sniffing himself as if he can't get enough of it.

He also loves my Burt's Bees lip balm. (it has peppermint oil in it). When I wear it, I have to keep him away or else he'll start licking my lips. I guess it makes sense that cats like minty smells since catnip is in the mint family.

i have 2 bodysprays. one is hawaiin ginger and the other is a pineapple coconut. i have learned that if i want to keep snow away while i cook dinner or what not. to spray the ginger one. she does not like the smell at all. she will walk up to me. take a sniff and turn up her nose and walk away. going to the other end of the room and giving me an evil glare. but she loves the coconut
