Lets Remain Forum Friends

Thread Starter
I just want to say to everyone that I have debated with that If at anytime I offended you in anyway I am sorry. I really tried hard to keep it on the topic and not focus on the people who were stating their opinion. If in cases I was not successful in that goal I am sorry and I hope that people can look past and forgive me as I will look past anything that I may have felt was a little to personal.

I hope others will feel the same and I hope that this will be a thread that we can come back together on and feel like we can all remain friends.

I also hope this is an appropriate thread to post here and if anyone else has anything to say I hope they feel that they can also post it here.

I can't imagine how it would not be appropriate. Emotions have been running pretty high in the last while, and to an extent were allowed to do so. But you're right, in the end we're all, I hope, still friends. Friends don't have to agree on everything -- only on there being a basis for friendship.

Oh sweetie, I don't think you have anything to worry about . Politics and emotions are hard to separate. Mom always told me to NEVER discuss politics or religion but of course I didn't listen to her . I've tried to bite my tongue (or actually, sit on my hands) the last few months, but sometimes I just couldn't. I'm sure everyone has posted something that someone could have taken wrong.

I used to get into yelling matches with one of my best friends when Clinton was in office. He's still one of my best friends even today so it is all good. Disagreeing on something doesn't end a friendship. It's how you handle it afterwards that can, and I think everyone here is mature enough to get past it.

The emotions raised during this election season were well founded and expected. And if we all want to get back to bi-partisanship now, let's all remember that none of us are on this site if it wasn't for the one thing we all have in common: our love for cats. All healing comes from that.

I didn't see many personal attacks, just extreme angst about opposing political opinions.

I'm sure we are.

I wasn't a regular visitor of IMO until the financial crisis started - and then I got interested in the political threads because I really was so uneducated at first. So I really have to thank everyone for having different opinions, because it made me do the research. I might have come to different conclusions, but it was really helpful, sometimes frustrating, sometimes fun, but most importantly I learned a lot.

No apology needed my friend. I never take anyting on this site personally.
It is just opinion's, if we all agreed it would be so boring.
Sometimes the threads in IMO are so darn funny I laugh my head off, laughter is good for the sould. It is all good.

No apology needed. I know I can get a little heated with certain topics too. (no kidding right )

My best buddy is a BO supporter. Last night she called me, the first time we'd spoken since the election. She says, "Well, what do you think? Should they get a white puppy or a black one?" I said, "Good grief, don't you think one black dawg in the white house is enough?" We both laughed and started talking about our cats. I figure if he can call himself a mutt, I can get away with a dig here and there. God knows I had to listen to enough crap from her about Bush.

If the political threads are any indication, we all have our own strong opinions - that's neither right nor wrong, just different. And as the French would say, "Vive la difference"!

Personal attacks were kept to a minimum for the most part and I think most of the posters treated each other with respect even though they disagreed with a passion. I figure anyone who loves cats has to have some good qualities even if their politics are different than mine.

I learned a fair bit about American politics through those threads so I gained knowledge and that's always a good thing.

The members on this site are pretty nice folks.

I like everyone pretty much and put it to politics. It is a passionate subject especially this election. Good came out of it. People read and researched probably more than they ever have. Which is good. Yeah it got ugly a few times but I barely remember who annoyed me about what anymore.
I like people who love cats and give them much more leeway than regular people.

My guy didn't win, but my guy wasn't going to win nationally, no matter what.

I know people who are just frantic on both sides. I know from history that it won't be as good as the Obama supporters hope/think, and it won't be as bad as the McCain supporters fear/think. Our system is largely self-correcting, and like any large vessel, the ship of state makes the best progress when it isn't making radical turns or listing to one side or the other. Sometimes you have to "pump out the bilges" to correct a list, and this election probably had a good deal of that about it.

But keep in mind that no matter how glad/sad you may be about this election, 50% of the country felt the same way over the last two.

I like this thread. I have had many of the same thoughts expressed here. Besides, ya'all love cats, how bad can any one of us be?

Friends should never take offense over a different opinion, even a heateed one I also would feel bad if I hurt any feelings or stepped on any toes, a great big giant is in order.
