Tonight I was taking out the trash and when I came out there were three cats playing (everyone in my area let their cats be indoor/outdoor as far as I know).

I have been told about these three.

One called furball came when I called and let me pet him. He belongs to a man in the area who's wife has been in the hospital and has not been himself, so the people across the street have taken him in until he is up to taking care of him again (they also own the other two).

The other two came close, one (I don't know her name, only that her "mommy" calls her lovingly, the bitch, because of the way she rules the house) came about four feet away and watched me, running whenever I moved to close.

But the one that really got ot me was the tabby. This poor little guy is the sweetest cat. He used to "help" my grandma in the garden and loved to get petted. This poor cat is so loving he ran to greet his owners when they came home. One day he ran up a bit to soon (right under the wheel) and got his leg ran over. He had to have it removed. But he still moves around perfectly. In fact he was chasing the other two cats around the area of four yards, it was pretty cute. For some reason he wouldn't let me quiet pet him, I got within 5 inches and he would turn away, but I didn't want to force myself on him.

Is there anything I should be aware of when petting him? I know it sounds odd, but I'm more worried about hurting him then other cats. I shouldn't, but I can't seem to help myself...

My friend has a three legged cat, Tripod, and nothing affects this guy. He doesn't seem to know he has a "handicap". He was born this way and doesn't know anything else. I wouldn't worry to much about hurting him.

My Beloved late Tabby girl Corkie became a tripod after her leg was amputated to VAS and she did very well - including climbing up and jumping down from her over 6 foot high kitty tree.

I think he is just shy, nothing to do with the 3-leggedness. They all sound a bit shy. Give them some treats and they may get friendlier.

do you think its alright to do that with cats that are owned by someone else though? I never know what the rules are with things like that. I don't want to freak out the owner

I am the slave of a 3 legged Charlie. The only thing that's a difference is his slow walk. Running is just the same, if not faster, than my other 3 masters.

its his back right one really. I doubt I would have noticed if it wasn't for the fact he kind of jumps a bit when running and walking, but he can sure move fast.

I found my 3 legged kitten on 7th Feb 2009. She had only stay with my other furkids for only 2 week now. I found her near a financial bank called CIMB, so we named her Cimb Bo. I believe she was born with 3 legs. I didnt had the intention to adopt her when I saw her that day. I just wanted to help to remove a rubber band tied accross her body. When I put her down, that the moment I noticed she was limping. Thought she was hurt, so I check on her legs...I was shock to find out she only had 3 legs. Being such a little poor kitty at her age barely 3 months and she could survived the ordeal having 3 legs and living as stray, I am very impressive and touch. I took her home and cage her. Surprisingly, Cimbo is a well behave kitten. She didnt cries in the cage. She just sit quietly there. I didnt have any problem toilet train Cimb Bo. I feed her with Sanabelle and on her first poo-poo, it was full with dead worms. She also had few fungal infection on her ears and bit on the tummy but it all clear up now.

Here the video of Cimb Bo, a day after being rescue. havent gave her a bath yet at this time.
This the video taken a week after the first video

Trace Tumblebrutus is missing his right rear leg, and the only difference in petting him and the others is, he can't quite scratch his right chin very well. So, if I do it for him, he rolls his eyes and practically falls over he enjoys it so much.

What a cute kitten! And your adult cat is just gorgeous.

That kitten is going to be very pretty when she grows up.

If she had one rubber band around her, she might have had another around her leg that caused her to lose it. How can people be so cruel to such a beautiful animal?

re: Cimbo - however she lost part of that leg - it may be best for her to have that stump amputated. Do you have a good vet/surgeon that you trust?

3-legged cats get along just fine.

And she is adorable - she's enjoying playing with her new sibling!
