Obama Adds Symbolic N.C. Victory to White House Win
Quote:
The Associated Press declared Obama the winner Thursday after canvassing counties in North Carolina to determine the number of outstanding provisional ballots.
That survey found that there are not enough remaining ballots for Republican John McCain to close a 13,693-vote deficit.
North Carolina's 15 electoral votes brings Obama's total to 364 _ nearly 100 more than necessary to win the White House.

Yeah, the liberals that occupy the cities seem to have turned out in mass. Good for them. Everyone should vote as long as its legally.

I wonder if Missouri is going to hold on to its record of almost always "calling" the elections?

I think this is only the 2nd time in the last 100 years where they called it wrong. I live over the border and campaigned there. That county went blue but the rural areas overrode both Kansas City and St. Louis this time around. But oh my it was close!

I still can't believe we knew the winner before 10 PM PST. I figured it was going to be so close that it would take recounts and lawsuits. I am so glad that it did not happen that way.

I am not surprised with all of the universities and colleges there. There are a lot of people from other places that live there now. My younger brother was born there and my sister went to college there.
I am so glad that NC went blue. It keeps things interesting.

My dad surely wasnt happy NC went blue, but at that point it really didnt matter

The county I live in SC went blue, whereas the county I lived in in NJ went red

Just so you can put it in perspective, nothing like that is permanent. At one time, Texas was dependably Democrat.

I believe it went Republican, as did much of the South, after LBJ pushed the Civil Rights Act through.

Americans are too mobile for states to remain reliably Democratic or Republican, and immigrants have to be taken into consideration.

That's odd, since it was the Republicans who actually voted for the Civil Rights Act, when LBJ couldn't get the Democrats to go along with him.

And keep in mind something like 50% of all Americans have never been more than 100 miles from where they were born, according to demographic researchers.
