My Cat sleeps all day and so deeply nothing I do wakes him except if I shake him...I don't know if this is really normal or not...I am getting worried..he seems to be doing this more often. I can't take him to the vet for a few months (saving money to fix him) and I just need to know if it's normal for him to sleep so much and be so hard to wake up..none of my other cats are this way.....

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

How old is this cat? Has he always been like this? Has anything happened lately to him (fight, illness, etc) that could be affecting his health? A vet checkup with bloodwork would be a good idea if he hasn't had one in a year or more, or if this is a sudden and abrupt change in his personality/habits.

Take the kitty to the vet IMMEDIATLY! Some vets will allow you to make payments. Try the Humane Society and see if they have low cost help there. Please let us know how your kitty is doing!

Well he has always slept alot...but not been hard to wake up. I can talk to him and nothing happens. I can pet him and sometimes I can get lucky enough to wake him..Oh and I know it's not hearing, because when he goes hunting in the neighbors field, I holler his name and he comes running (he knows I don't like him over there). Other that not wanting to wake up and laying around alot he seems healthy as usual.Oh and estimating...I think he's alittle over a year old.

I don't know how normal it is for a year old kitty to be hard to wake up. I know when Spike was a baby, from 8 weeks up until probably 8 months, he would sleep like he was in a coma! I could pick him up... move him around, pet him, CLIP HIS NAILS, anything - without him waking up! Unfortunately, it's not like that anymore, and I need assistance in getting his nails clipped.

I am not a cat expert. I can only tell you about my experience. Max has never slept like that. He loves to sleep, but can easily be aroused.

I've never had a healthy adult cat (were talking 5 months and older here) not be easily aroused.
All I have to do is call names and they all wake up from their slumbers and come running. Sometimes they hear me, yet will ignore me. I'll go over and place my had on them gently, and then a delayed moment... and then they wake up and their like "oh oh what's touching me!" =p
This could be very dangerous for an outdoor cat, if it is not easily aroused when a preditor comes along.

Maybe I'm lucky and it's nothing serious..Maybe he's just being stubborn as heck and won't wake up..I don't know...Especially since he is nowhere to be found all day and when I do find him he is hiding under something fast asleep...I guess that means he's not out courting right?

Specifically can you check the colour of the cat's gums. They should be a nice bright pink. Also is the cat's appetite and weight stable?
The reason I ask is that I've seen cats with anemia display excessive sleeping and be hard to wake. However, there's a whole bunch of tests that a veterinary professional can run to ascertain what's going on. Excessive sleeping isn't a disease in itself, but can be indicative of underlying issues like anemia. If everything else is ok, then it's probably just a lazy tomcat but, as always, you should seek definitive advice from professionals you can look in the eye, rather than ones you meet on the internet
