The money that it takes to keep your bath faucet running constantly is more than the money it takes to go to a vet and buy Revolution (or another medication that kills ear mites) for your cats. If your cats prefer to drink out of running water, you should consider putting a cat fountain on your Christmas wish list, if you have children or friends who buy presents for you.

Foster and Smith do have excellent supplies. However, they might require a prescription for ear mite medication - I am not sure. I do remember my late Casey had mites as a stray kitten - fairly common - and I used an ointment in his ears a few times a day. It worked very well and I don't think it was very costly. I just don't remember the name of it - it was over 16 years ago.

It sounds as though you really do care about your cats so no bad vibes coming from this direction.

Having said that, do you have a vet that you've used before that knows your financial situation and would be willing to give you a prescription for ear mite medications? I personally don't have much faith or trust in over-the-counter meds as they are not always as effective as meds from a vet.

I also think you should ask for a nice kitty fountain on your Christmas Wish List.
