Jordan's up to his old tricks again. He loves to run out the door, but only after dark. Now that day light savings time is over I will probably always get home in the dark. So I'm just looking for creative ideas to prevent this. He never goes far, I think it's just attention getting, but I'm afraid one day he's not going to stop at the end of the walk way. Any ideas?

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Do you have the money and resources to add like a screened in porch? That's a really expensive option, but the only one that immediately pops to mind.
A cheaper - but not as nice looking - alternative would be to buy one of those toddler enclosures that has a little gate. Of course he'd be able to jump over it, but if he's not actually trying to run away, at least it provides a barrier.

I'm in an appartment, so I can't really add anything. You did remind me though I used to keep a baby gate in the door and push him back with that. I may have to try that again.

What I did when I had a kitten that would literally run out the door everytime I entered my apartment-- I would open the door just a crack and usually see a kitty nose. I would put my foot and leg through the opening and scoot the cat back, then walk in.

Or, sometimes I would keep a small toy or crumpled paper in my purse and when I opened the door a crack I would throw the toy inside so the cat would chase it.

That acutally gives me a good idea. Maybe if I carry treats in my purse that would help (Jordan is much more food motivated than play motivated)
