I'm new to this website. I have a partial feral male cat named Oliver and his girlfriend Jade. They both live outside. Oliver has always lived outside and he is around 9. Jade is a domestic who lived across the street. She was pretty much an indoor cat. Then she decided she liked the food better at my house and she bonded with Oliver. I am moving soon and I want to bring the cats inside at my new house. I was told that it is a good idea to cage (dog crate) the feral at first until he tames down. He doesn't know how to be inside. A couple of times I've held the front door open and he would barely go inside. Totally freaked. My new place already has 4 cats and a beagle. I would appreciate any feedback from those who have more experience than me. I've got my work cut out for me.

Taking these two with you is wonderful. It shows how much you care about all of your animals. There is a multitude of information here and great experienced people to help.

I came here last year when I took in four ferals and then rescued 3 orphans to bottle feed.

This is a blog site that you will find helpful. Especially this entry: http://www.feralcatbehavior.com/375/room-service.html

Keep posting questions as you learn. The best of luck to you and will look forward to hearing how they are doing.

is Oliver neuterd?

most cats will "freak"if they are not used to being inside.

i have rescued several ferals and they turn out to be the sweetest nicest non-agressive cats i have and they bond w/the others

i have one i rescued as a baby

i could not pet her for 2 1/2 years

now she loves to be petted and will sometimes sleep w/me

i would suggest that if you want to take these cats in that u first bring them to the vet to be checked out,i'm sure they have fleas and worms and earmites,u would not want ur other cats to get fleas or earmites.

have them spayed/neutered and then bring them home.

cats are very adaptable.most will adjust to being kept inside

almost all of mine show no desire to go outside again.

remember that they are domesticated animals

good luck.
