Tomorrow night I'm having a little Halloween party and I wanted to make something fun for a Halloween dinner. My sister and her youngest boy, Cooper are comming over for dinner and to help me pass out candy. I've also got a few Halloween specials saved on my DVR for him to watch. After dinner we were planning to walk him around our neighborhood so he can get candy. (Her other two children are in their church's youth group, so husband is taking the older two to the church party tomorrow night. Cooper isn't old enough to go yet, so I wanted to do something special for him here.)

Any ideas for a fun Halloween meal? I have no idea what to make!!

So far I'm planning to make my pumpkin fluff dip and serve it with gingerbread cookies. Everyone loves that.

My sister Kimmy said she's going to bring some cookies as well....so I think I have desserts covered.

I'm not sure what all I need for punch, but I do have a punch bowls, so I was thinking about doing something for that as well.

As far as a main course goes, I'd kind of like something that I can keep warm for a while so I don't have to worry about reheating it when we have to stop and pass out candy/etc. I was thinking maybe a crock pot dinner or a lasagna that I can wrap up in aluminum foil....but how do I make it more "halloweenish" ???? Any ideas?

What about pizza? Just make the dough and have all of the toppings in bowls and let people press out the dough for their own pizza and put whatever toppings they want on it?

Have ice cream sundaes for dessert!

I like the idea of ice cream sunday's (I'll have to get some bananas tomorrow!) I even have some yummy lactose free ice cream we can all use
I can add food dye to the ice cream maybe and make it gross looking

I was thinking that these look pretty cute
Just found out that I've got a few more people comming tomorrow, so I want to make enough for everyone to eat!

This is going to be the main dish- Witch's Hat Calzones (to be served with blood....aka....marinaria
)
(I'm going to make them monzorella & ricotta cheeses though- i'll tweak the recipe a bit.)

I'm going to make these to go with the calzones
Garlic Breadstick Bones

Appetizers I'm thinking about. Do these sound good?:

mummy dogs (hot dogs with cresent rolls wrapped up them) I'm planning to serve them with green ketchup

black cat sandwiches and Spiderwiches (I was thinking of making mini versions of these for appetizers
)

baked monster eyes

Drink:

)

Was it you who tried out Calzone making recently in a different thread? Everytime someone mentions those, I get so hungry.

Yea, it was me. Unfortuantely those didn't turn out so well 1. because I used whole wheat dough, and 2. because the flour I used to make the dough was expired
(I didn't even think to check the expiration on the dry goods!) I actually took pictures of those (they looked amazing, just the outside didn't taste so amazing!
) The filling though was really good- I used ricotta, monzorella, and asiago cheeses that time.

This time I'm planning to use pizza dough or cresent rolls on one part for the dough (and fresh at that!) so hopefully it should be ok!

Colin has also requested I make "ghost poop" (he's such a guy!) so I'm planning on using eithor kasseri cheese or marshmellows for that one

I think the final menu is going to be:

Appetizers:
Ghost poop
Black Cat Sandwiches and Spiderwiches
Mummy Dogs w/ "moldy" green sauce (green ketchup)
Possibly I'll do the Baked Monster Eyes if I have enough time

Drinks:
Blood Bath Punch

Main Dish:
Witche's Hats with blood sauce (calzones with marinaria)
Bone Breadsticks

Dessert:

Popcorn Ghosts
Pumpkin Fluff dip w/ ginger snaps

Does that sound like a good / gross idea?
I'm going to run to the grocery store and pick up everything

4? Wow! You're going to have your hands full with all those little trick or treaters tonight!
I bet they'll have a blast!

If you're going to do tacos, look at the baked monster eye recipe I posted!!!! It's got taco stuff all in it! (Tortillas, taco sauce, sour cream, black olives, taco meat,etc- that'd be perfect for your dinner tonight
)
