I don't know if any of you saw this story back in February, but the courts have finally convicted the 16 year old yob who threw Kilo into the River Thames. The story can be be read here http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...cle1850097.ece

For my part, I would love to get my hands on her and teach her a very harsh lesson

I hope that when she gets sentenced in a few weeks time that the book gets thrown at her. Personally, I think she should be named and shamed and thrown into the Thames! It makes me so angry when I read about or see people being so cruel to defenceless animals

It breaks my heart to look at Kilo and think of the fear he must have felt....
There is no punishment to harsh for the person who did this cruel act.
You are not forgotten Kilo

In all seriousness, though, I feel that our mighty western-world system of justice leaves some things to be desired when it comes to crimes like this. This ^%$%#$ will not be punished with the severity and heavy hand that she deserves. Six months in jail is one thing (but still too short), but a fine of about ~$50,000 US? Come on, who's going to pay it, her parents?

What is wrong with humans!? I mean that seriously, what the freaking hell is wrong with us as a species that so many torture and hurt the other creatures we live on this planet with for sheer joy? I read too many stories like this one, and it sickens me. I have nothing really to add to this thread except to rant about the lack of humanity I find in so many humans.

I agree. It also grinds with me when a cat goes missing, the police aren't interested and yet when it comes to dogs, they will help you! Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against dogs, I just feel that cats and dogs should have equal rights

I met Kilo when he and his brother Oscar became the new resident cats of the HMS Belfast. They were both such lovely babies and when I heard what had happened, I was so full of rage that I didn't know what to do with myself! All I wanted to do was to find the girl and do really horrible things to her. I still do!

I like the idea of the tattoo. What would be even better would be for her to be branded on her forehead and then put in a prison where the inmates were all cat lovers. Six months would then be a very very long time for her.

Also, all this business about not naming her for legal reasons (her age) - I'm sorry, a 16 year old is hardly a child!

Here in Camrose, AB there were two teenage boys who broke into someones home and microwaved their cat to death. Her name was Princess and it apparently took her up to ten minutes to die. The kids were 13 and 15, and their punishment was a ban on playing violent video games, a ban on owning pets, a 9pm curfew and counseling with a forensic therapist. No jail time, no community service, nothing. I was appalled to find out how easy they got off. That poor cat suffered so bad. They killed her for the fun of it. The boys just stood there and listened to her in the microwave and did nothing.

I protested outside their trials with a group of fellow animals lovers and we wrote letters to try and get harsher punishments for animal cruelty cases in Canada. People make me so sick sometimes. I can't believe that girl that threw the cat over the edge into the river didn't get more punishment than what she did! What is the world coming to!
