We got a new kitten Roxy. We rescued her from the parking lot in front of my work. We think she is about 6 months maybe a bit younger. She has settled in nicely. Loves to play and cuddle. She is eating like a horse and drinks on her own finally. She is a pretty little calico. Pictures soon I promise.

We were able to get into the Pet Assistance program here in San Diego. ITs a great program. If an owner is unable to pay for the spay and shots on a rescue animal but they are keeping it as a pet the program covers all the cost. The woman who does the shots is coming by tomorrow for the first round. What can I expect? Are there any side effects or anything?

She is getting all of the first things, dewormed, distemper, leukemia(sp) and all the rest. Then on the 13th she is gettting spayed and then the second round of shots. I will have spay questions later. What I need to know now is the shots. Will she be tired after? Should I feed her in the morning?

The last time I had a kitten I was too little to remeber and with Monkey it was all done at the shelter so we never saw if there were any side effects.

Thanks for any advice.

Good on you for taking this little one in. As for shots, most cats/kittens don't even notice anything. They may sleep for a bit afterwards, or may not. If she gets a rabies shot, that may make her a bit lethargic for a day or so. But I would continue to feed as normal and make sure she has plenty of water handy.
