I have never shown a cat before but was at cat shows when my friend showed.
How do I go about showing a cat.
I told the breeder i want one I can show and he said she is show quality.

Haven't you read our showing threads???? Shame on you. If she's show quality get her out there

First kittens have to be 4 months old (up to 8 months old - then they would be shown in the alter or premier class).

Get her registered first with CFA and then if you want to eventually show in another association (ACFA or TICA) you already have CFA registration done.

Before you get her, attend a local cat show and sit and watch the judging in the rings. Then you will have an idea of what goes on and how to condition her for showing (imitate what the judges do).

You don't have to have your own cage as the clubs still provide the ones in the benching area if needed. But you would have to get towels or material to cover the 3 sides of the cage, top and bottom. As you walk around you will see what people bring, litter pan, food, water, grooming tools, etc. Talk to some of the exhibitors and ask questions. On the CFA website there are good articles explaining what goes on and how to show your cat.

Here's the links. If you have other questions, just ask. I'll also give you the links to look up shows in the area. Whatever show you want to go to, contact the entry clerk for information and tell them you are brand new at showing so they can send you everything you need to entry the show.

The breeder is a TICA judge, so his cats are probably all registered with TICA, so the litter is with TICA.

That won't prevent her from switching if she wants to, but I think she'll have to do an indivdual register & purchase a pedigree from TICA first.

Oh ok, but except for Bengals, don't you think that most would register in CFA and their chosen association. I know I always registered my cats with both CFA and ACFA.

I'm sure he's probably registered with both associations.

I doubt it, but that is a good question and I'll ask him next time I see him.

You should have decent temps in December to ship. Keep me in mind with prayers that we get a few good days to ship in Minnesota next March!

Thanks,
She will be indoor only.
All my cats are indoor.
I hope its nice when Jack ships.
We tend to get big storms in Dec but sometimes it can be sunny and 70.
It could be in the 20's also for lows.
Ed did tell me he will ship in day time.
