Now it's just getting stupid

Shooting at people over yard signs? This election season has finally made it all the way down to stupid.

BUT; in the fellows defense, even though no one deserves to be shot for stealing campaign signs, both those boys do indeed need a thorough spanking

Well, at least the man has passion.

Maybe he ought to channel it into a more productive endeavor.

I'm sorry, shooting someone for stealing a yard sign is way out there.

To carry on the stupid yard sign thefts theme.......

A local politician running for county commissioner was caught stealing his opponents yard signs. At least hire a hitman to steal the signs!

It's a good thing that I voted against him!

did you read the comments that followed the article? Scary
I was at an Obama rally at our park, holding up a sign along with some other ladies & two young boys participating for a civics class. We were treated to many fine examples of American manhood showing us the "traffic finger" and expressing their sentiments in colorful expletives.

if you dont want shot,
dont go into the yard that belongs to someone else.

really its not hard.

Basic common sense there.

i know a guy, that put needles in his sign, and set up a night camera.
about 2 am some old female stopped got out of her car, and went up to the sign,

followed by some jumping and running back to the car,, he has not had another sign stolen since.

but really in a fair world the people stealing the sign would be up in charges along with having medical bills to pay

In Kentucky, stealing or defacing campaign signs is a Class "A" misdemeanor, which means up to 1 year in the lockup. And 1 year or shorter sentences are spent at counties; not fun places to hang out

We rigged our sign with motor oil along the edges. Not only is it too slippery to pull out of the ground, motor oil will stain your hands and clothes.
That is silly. Silly for stealing someone's sign and silly for shooting someone over a sign. Sometimes Silly people meet up and stupidity ensues.

I know the guy was aggravated but he should have booby trapped his sign. Like with oil as Momofmany did or thumb tacks or something. I don't even know what a McCain sign looks like. I have never seen one in my city. I did see a Ron Paul sign during the primaries but I have no idea about McCain's.

I would rather someone stole my sign than cut my car brakes as happened here in our last election - and you think you have all the fun in elections

wow going into someone else s yard or stealing a sign doesn't justify murder. I can understand if the person is threatening you but kill someone over a maybe 10 dollar sign. That is sad.
Yep, those Obama supporting McCain sign stealers better watch out for us
gun lovin, bitter, clinging McCain supporters. LOL

no, the sad part is going into someone elses yard, and stealing something.
Comes from lack of respect for what belongs to others.

So as i said, it is very simple, if you dont want shot. Dont take what is not yours. Which in that case it is not murder.

How exactly is that not murder? I understand protecting yourself if your life is threatened, but stealing someone's yard sign isn't an attack on his/her life, so the self-defense, uhm, defense doesn't fly.
that what wrong with the US today no respect for other people.

its only a sign, its only your car, its only your house. What right do you have to your own stuff if someone else wants it.

if someone is dumb enough to go into someone yard to take something that does not belong to them, and get shot in the process, to bad, don't care
post #18 of 29
it doesn't really matter whether you care or not. If you killed said person, you would be tried for murder.

Honestly, are things so important to us as humans that we would shoot one another over them? Seriously? Someone tries to steal your yard sign and the appropriate response is to shoot him/her? That's some effed up logic.

Using your logic, Kansas could have lost a republican candidate this week when he went into yards to steal his opponents signs. Of course he was only "shot" on tape here.

I just don't think it is worth someones life for something that trivial. I don't think violence solves anything. I just don't agree with an eye for an eye or in this case more like an eye lash for a life.

and saying please dont take my stuff does?
try that next time, with a car jacker or someone breaking into you house, and see how far that gets you.

You are taking some GIANT leaps. From stealing a sign to carjacking? Huh? Not even in the same crime category. One is a felony and one is a misdemeanor. The punishment should fit the crime. No one is saying that faced with a life threatening situation that you should not do everything in your power to save your own life or the lives of loved ones but to shoot over a sign makes the shooter the criminal.
in your world not in mine. No one has the right to walk into your yard and take your stuff.

do you think the police will do anything to help you?
the answer is no.they wont.
I think this is a good answer to the problem

I wouldn't be worried about my stuff if someone broke into my house I would be worried about myself my family and my animals and I still would not kill someone over just stuff. I would be more worried about getting out of there instead of killing someone for stuff.
if that is the case, why do you even have stuff? if you care about that little, send me your stuff.

that way your stuff(now my stuff) will now be safe stuff.
