I need to know what I can do to get Butzie to start using that litter robot again. I know that this is a long post, but I need to give you a little background info so you have the facts that might help me figure out how to get Butzie to use the litter robot again.

When we first got Butzie, DH bought an automated litter box. She used it, no problem. The problem was that it kept failing.

I researched on TCS and read about the litter robot. We found that we could get a used one with the company warrantee for a good price.

We bought it and Butzie took to it right away.

Then, we went on vacation at the beginning of Oct. and had a pet sitter. Unfortunately, when we go away and have a pet sitter, Butzie has to stay downstairs because our budgies fly free upstairs.

Butzie also cannot go outside for her usual morning stroll when she has a pet sitter because there is no guarantee that she would come in for a pet sitter. This is the first time that she had a pet sitter because the other times we went on vacation our daughter was home from college.

Now back to the problem. When we came home, we found that Butzie had peed and pooped all over the comforter in the 4th bedroom. We looked and she only used the robot a few times.

Bottom line is that Butzie is not using the litter robot anymore. She is now, as she has always been able to do when we are all home, allowed to be upstairs and to go out in the mornings.

I am sure does her business outside. But she has not used the litter robot even after we got home more than maybe once or twice. We even put a pan with just litter in it. Not much of anything in it either.

How can we make her use the robot again?

I would confine her to one room for a week or so until she uses a litter pan again. You may not get her to use the auto one. Once a cat gets scared or freaked out regarding a certain litter box, they usually won't go near it again.

You'll have to go back to an ordinary litter pan for awhile.
