Last night I was making homemade chicken salad and dropped the leafy top of a piece of celery in the floor. Speck came along and inspected it, then carried it away! I knew DH and I were going to have tough time getting that celery back and I tried frantically to remember if it was on the list my vet gave me of things that are poison to cats. Someone has kindly posted a list on here of things that are dangerous to cats and I didn't see celery. I wonder if I should grow some of that "cat grass" for indoor cats...

I believe celery has a mild catnip-like effect. Bella loves to roll around on the celery leaves and she's been known to drag the whole bunch off the table so she can attack it

Sounds like your kitty might like some greens

Thanks for the info. I never knew that about celery. No wonder he seemed so happy with it. I think I will get him one of those little indoor "gardens" especially for cats, since he is strictly inside. Or if anyone has any suggestions about kitty safe greens that I could buy at the grocery store, I will definitely get him some.

It sounds like you have already found the sticky on 100 things to keep away from your cat. Persi likes all kinds of veggies. Last night I gave him a large spoon full of stew which contained beef, carrots, potato, string beans and tomato. If you would expect him to just pick out the beef leaving the rest behind, you would be wrong. He gobbled the whole thing down. If you hold the cob for him he will also nibble off corn on the cob.
