Newbie to the board with some questions...

Hi everyone,

I am the mom to two female cats. Dillon is 7 months old and Bella is 6 months old. Dillon has had 3 heat cycles that come every couple of weeks apart. During her last heat cycle she got outside and was gone for a few days. Upon returning she was in heat for 1 more day and has not been in heat since then. This was about 3.5 weeks ago. Is it possible that she is pregnant?

If she was in heat and got outside I would say that she's most likely pregnant and you should see a vet to confirm this.

And also maybe make an appointment to get her and her 'sister' spayed so it doesn't happen again.

Thats what I thought too. I had appointments for both of them to get fixed, but like I said I thought she was a male and the vet told me to hold off until the testes dropped. Well they never dropped and she went into heat instead.

She got out around Oct 5th and was gone for 3 days.

Have they not been vaccinated then, since you thought she was a he? You need to get them to the vet. There are nasty diseases she could have been exposed to and her babies.

They both have their rabies shot. I made an appointment to get them fixed over the phone and thought she was a male when the lady asked if they needed spayed or neutered. I got her when she was 4 weeks old. I told the lady "he" needed neutered. She said I needed to wait until I saw testes before he could be fixed. The testes never came in and she went into heat so I found out that "he" was a she. I didn't know they went into heat at 5-6 months old.

When they get fixed they are getting the rest of their shots. I am going to make sure she is not pregnant before I get her fixed because I don't want to abort the babies. She has only been outside once and they are both indoor cats.

First of all WELCOME!!!! And yes a cat can get pregnant before 5 months. More than likely she is pregnant since she got out at the "purrfect" time to do that. I'm glad to hear they are getting fixed and getting the shots done. Even though they are "inside" they can get out, as you know, and its best to have them done. Please let us know what the vet says...

If she is preggars by 21 days along the nipples should start to "pink up" kind of a rosy color. This doesn't happen with everyone though. A vet check for pregnancy at this point will be a waste of money because she will have to be further along for the vet to feel the fetus. You usually see an increase in size by the time she is 5 weeks. Hope this helps.

I got you a due date.
She should have around Dec 9th.
I wish she had not got the Rabies shot cause it can cause birth defects.
I made the mistake with Meeko because she did not show when she was preg and i lost her only kitten yoshi at 5 years old.
We do not know if the shots caused his kidney stones or not but my vet got made when he found out Meeko had shots when she was preg.
My fault though because she got the shots then I asked if he thought she was preg and he wasnt sure.
She had 2 weeks after.
