I fully realize that this guy is a CRIMINAL, should be a felon if he isn't already and therefore shouldn't get a say in the election, and that Obama's campaign has decried his actions. Just like there are nutjobs who just might stone someone's car for having an Obama sticker too.

I was thinking that she did it herself when I saw the "B" was backward to the viewer. It would have looked right if you did it to yourself in a mirror. Guess she was the nutjob in this story! (And not real bright, either!)

Sad. I thought it was fake as soon as I saw the picture, not just because it was backwards... for it to be true, she would have had to hold perfectly still and let him do it, and a crazed mugger trying to scar your face isn't going to cut you in a way that doesn't actually even break the skin.

I don't believe her story (that she doesn't remember why it happened, what happened, or why she called police) but it's obvious she does have mental problems. It was a plot, and a bizarre one at that. Hopefully she gets the help she needs. Strange the things people will do thinking it's 'helpful'. All she did was prove she's a racist halfwit nutter.

Frome what I have heard, she is not a McCain campaign worker and she is mentally ill.

I hope this doesn't turn into another Joe The Plumber's dad is Charles Keating thing, that was so lame.

She may just be an Obama "plant"

The 2 news sources in Pittsburgh have confirmed that it was McCain's campaign office that broke the original mugging story before the police did. That was after they denied that they broke the story.

She was indeed worked for the McCain camp. She got a sympathy call from McCain and Palin.
I hope the "mythical black guy" sues her. He has been the innocent victim of a lot of false charges.

I don't think anyone specifically was ever singled out. Just an entire group of people this lowlife thinks of as both criminal and liberal. The cops didn't believe her from the beginning-- I'm sure they've seen plenty of similar self-abuse false-report scenarios.

Well, I'll be voting Green Party, so I don't expect anything. Actually, I was a Democrat for nearly 20 years but switched this year after watching the nomination being handed to Obama on a silver platter.

If Obama loses, I'm getting the hell out of Oakland because I am sure this city will go into full riot mode. However, I think he will win because the media has pretty much decided this much like they did with Hillary earlier this year.

I meant it as a joke. There have been many cases where a victim who turns out actually be the one who committed the crime always says some black guy or black guys did it. So I was saying it as if the same "mythical guy" was being blamed for everything.

She should be ashamed of herself. What a horrible waste of time and she only made mockery of a serious issue. Rape and brutality are very real and the last thing real victims need are women like her. I hope they make her cover the cost of the police time spent on this matter.

By that standard, everyone who puts a sign in their yard, a bumper sticker on their car, or mans a phone bank for an afternoon is a campaign worker, and I'm sure we don't want to go there on any candidate!

'Campaign volunteer' is a pretty accurate description of this woman. I've worked on several campaigns, and at the local man-the-phones, lick-envelopes level there is little to no control over who is doing it. I don't think anyone is implying that McCain or anyone important to the campaign ever even knew of this girl's existence-- local coordinators pretty much take whatever help they can get.

And I did appreciate that the Obama campaign also called her or at least expressed their regrets. I have to say that in most instances, they show a much better comprehension of their public image than the McCain campaign.
