its been awhile since i made a post to this thread, and in that time i switched my cat to home cooked food. she no longer has poop stuck on her butt, so i think diet might play a role in this.

her poop also doesnt smell nauseating anymore.

I may have to try cooking for him. My problem child is my orange and white Manx. He is 4 and has major constipation issues. He recently had to be sedated to have an intestinal blockage removed. He is now on a daily prescription laxative. I have two 5 year old Seal Point Siamese brothers who are healthy as horses with no problems.

does he eat dry or wet food? dry food can cause constipation because cats tend to not drink too much water and they become dehydrated easily, which can cause constipation.

I've read that it's very common for Manx cats to have issues with their bowels.

I avoid "looking" most of the time,
but today he pointed it right at me (standing on the bed) and I saw what I usually used to see, when I looked, which was just a plain anus that has little brown/black marks on it—little spots and lines. (No lumps.)  Why doesn't he lick them off? He is generally in good health and moves his bowels daily, and they are normal.  I just came here to see if cats are supposed to lick their butts clean or not.  It's funny but right after I stared as his butt, he jumped off the bed and left the room.  He is a lovely long-haired orange-buff colored cat, and poop never gets stuck to his hair, just these little smudges right on the flesh of his butt. (He is not all that affectionate, if that makes a difference with anything. I mean, he really doesn't love to be touched. I got him at age 3 last spring, from a shelter—the people said they were moving and couldn't keep him. They neutered him as soon as he got to the shelter.) He's a finicky eater and only eats pate chicken, which, I recently discovered, he likes much better if I mash it up as much as I can! "LIkes" meaning "doesn't leave as much in the dish. Eats a greater % of it."

Anyone have any ideas? Shouldn't he be cleaning it? Should I wipe it?  Is something wrong with him?

My cats have this issue too...but its along the lines of "little bumps and lines" too.  They don't have a bad diet at all.  One of them eats canned with extra water and dry.  The other eats 100% raw.  So I have no clue. ><

Is it stuck to her fur or still inside her?

never clean poop with a dry tissue. the dried poop is stuck inside and pulling on it will cause the cat pain. you can use coconut oil to motivate her to clean it herself. or use a warm (not hot) wet towel to loosen the poop. softly wipe, dont scrub as this can hurt her.

good luck! make sure its not her anal glands needing to be expressed.
