What kind of Fruit Tree or Nut Tree should we plant in the front yard?

Apricot or lemon.
Apricots are nummy, but lemon blossoms smell divine!

Lemons grow well!

Lemon tree, very pretty
and the lemon flower is sweet
but the fruit of the poor lemon...
is impossible to eat

Unless you make pie or lemonade!

Peaches are one of my fav.

Almonds and walnuts. They have beautiful flowers - pink and white - and are native here.

Of course, Eureka lemons are wonderful and native as well. Do not, however, try to plant different citrus plants next to each other, like lemons and limes. You will wind up with really sour lemons because citrus trees cross pollinate.

Crepe Myrtle is a very pretty tree that does well here, too, but I think it might like shade a bit more (not sure about that).

I am not going to get a Lemon because we have 2 Orange trees,2 grapefruits and a kumquat in the back yard. I have them next to each other.
Maybe that is why the kumquats are so bitter.
I have a 5 in 1 Almond in the back yard also.
It looks like we will get either a peach or apricot so far.
Any other ideas?

What grows in your climate? Figs, maybe? What would you want to eat that you don't already have?

What about an Olive tree or an avocado tree? Those do well in parts of CA

Plumbs! Great to eat and if your tree makes a whole bunch it makes some yummy jam.

Pomegranates are nice too, they dont get very big. They flowers on the are really pretty.

Apricots are another nice one if you like making home made jam/perserves.

I don't really like nut trees because they are so messy, but Walnut trees are pretty.

Since you are in CA, you can grow anything, but apples are nice. You will need 2 trees, each a different variety (to ensure pollination). If you plant a decent-sized tree now, you can expect apples within 3-4 years.

I would suggest plums, apricots, peaches, olives, avocados, figs, apples, id grow lime if i could! Pears! Mangoes, Kiwis

I had an italian plum tree back at my house in WA that was fantastic. It was at least 20 years old so it produced sooo well and I used the fruit for drying, sauces, chutneys, jams etc. It's the one thing I miss after moving to the east coast

When I was growing up, we had pomegranate, walnut, pecan, fig and peach-cot. We also had grapes.

This tree will be for the front yard so it can not get huge.
Here is what I have in the back yard.
2 Avacado,1 Fig,2 Orange,2 Grapefrut,1 Kumquat,1 Loquat,1 Cherry,1 Jujube,1 Banana,Persimmon,1 Almonds.
I would love a Pomegranate or a Olive tree.
Plum,Peach,Apricot and Kiwi sound good also.

We may not be able to get certain trees now because summer is over.
Bareroot come in Jan.

Ooooh, to be able to grow avocados! I would think I'd died and gone to heaven. Yup! That would be my choice.

I'll say! Wouldn't it be wonderful if "Honey, grab me an avocado, will you?" didn't involve shopping two days in advance! (Not to mention the difference between that which has just been plucked from the tree and that which had to be purchased two days in advance.)

My tree didnt have any Avocadas this year.
I just bought a smaller Avocado tree so we will see what will happen.

It can take an avocado tree 10 years before it will have fruit. Our finally did this year and it is WONDERFUL. I just ate one, LOL!!

My vote is a pomagrante. They are really pretty, a little different, and great to eat!!!
